Assualting the Scarlet Crusade (RP-Event)

Postby Yaengohl » Wed Sep 24, 2008 5:36 pm

We have a situation that may escalate into a crisis if we do nothing to avert it. As a librarian, I tend to like to start at the beginning, and so I shall.

Some time ago, I had discovered that a goblin trader had acquired some scrolls and tomes that meant little to him aside from the profit he hoped to get from them. Written, as many of the are, in High Thallassian, he had little knowledge of what he had. The Alliance buyers were unable to decipher the script, and so they had little value for them as well.

It was only by chance that my master, Bael'spar Mon'tisto, exemplar, had even thought to purchase one. It showed some diagrams of the machinery within the confines of the Blackrock Spire. As Bael'spar's knowledge of the older dialect of High Thallasian is, uh...imperfect; he asked me to translate. In doing so, I noted that this book made a few small references to Onyxia and her sources of materials. Since Lady Nyx has been called Onyxia in some communiques, I asked for more of these.

Bael'spar made an effort to get the rest of the documents from the goblin.

In a seperate, but related issue; Bael'spar may have brought some enemies to bear on us. He was showing Tifani into the Old Hillsbrad portion of the Caverns of Time. Both of them had gotten thirsty. They went to the inn in South Shore, and got some wine. What follows is what I pieced together from Bael'spar's testimony and from documents I've obtained from the Scarlet Monastery.

Hearing about the forging of a “new” sword, Bael'spar became interested. His lack of historical knowledge did not give him insight that he was overhearing an important discussion. Since he warrants himself an expert on all things long, metal, and sharp; Bael'spar added himself into the conversation. Perhaps to many words that should have remained unspoken escaped his lips. From his words, these members of the Scarlet Crusade learned that they had an opposing faction in the forces of Nyx. Too many of our prominent names appear in some of their older records to have been recent sorties against them.

As they have taken an interest in our movements, they decided to obtain the documents that I had sent for.

Bringing this to the present, I have gained entrance to the monastery, but was unable to find all the documents that were to have been delivered. It is my belief that they are being handed about the Scarlet Crusade so that they might be more rapidly deciphered and then, if possible, used against us. Some of the Alliance have also learned of these papers. I intercepted some of them as they were being taken to Stormwind, but I am not powerful enough to get all the documents back before real damage is done.

To that end, we will need to storm the Scarlet Monastery, taking every book, scroll, and piece of parchment we can carry out to insure that they have nothing of ours.

While a number of us are engaged in that, the rest will have to insure that no Alliance enters the monastery to make off with any of this information. Only by doing this can we assure ourselves that our secrets are safe.

((When and where: Wednesday October 1, 8PM ST gathering in Undercity. From their, we move as fast as we can to the Scarlet Monastery. Those who are best suited to holding off the Alliance are asked to engage them as they arrive at the main entrance. All else are to look into the monastery itself, bringing to Yaen'gohl all scrolls found. Time permitting, an assault on whichever Alliance city seems most interested in obaining our lore.))

Sorral and I arrived first in Brill. Aitana soon met with us, and we began to drag Iceot, Wolfz and Asarelah from their previous engagement with the kind folks of Pack Spirit. After testing our mettle, and sharing some refreshments, we rode to the Scarlet Monastery.

A few Alliance fell quickly to our blades as we swiftly took the Library. Gathering what documents that we could find, we then went to clean the foyer of any Alliance spies. A dwarven paladin, 3 hunters, a druid, a rogue, and a mage all sought to break through our interdiction. We were more than capable to the task with the additions of Zepheri and Gibor.

A few other Horde members were glad to join us in delivering payback to the Alliance.

As filled with success as we felt, it is with a sad heart that I must report that we were not entirely successful. There were three documents that were not regained.

In Archivist Doan's belonging, I found a transcription of the original manifest. Matching the documents recovered by the manifest, I learned three titles that were not recovered Libellus Noctem Est, Der Kulten der Nacht, and Il Calliste di Oxiana.

I am presently at work following up leads on to where they might have gotten too. I will be updating our options as more comes clear.
