The return to Legerdemain Lounge

Postby Airrik » Mon Sep 14, 2009 12:16 am

((To better understand this RP, see Airrik's backstory, posted in the backstory forums here on the Nyx site))

A small rainbow hit the table, catching the attention of Airrik, who was sitting in the Legerdemain Lounge alone. His eyes following the source, traced it to a wine glass sitting neatly across the room on the bar. The sunlight was sitting the glass in such a way that a prism of color spouted through it. As if in a trance from it, Airrik slowly rose and walked over to the bar. Having a seat, the usual bartender and owner was working, and offered conversation.

"What'll it be?"

Airrik paused. "Nothing this evening actually.. Sometimes I just find myself coming back here. Memories I guess?"

"That's right, you used to work here someone told me. A while back before your wi-"

The bartender trailed off, not finishing. A new customer arrived at the bar, and he turned to them. he quietly took their order, and began to make their drink. Airrik overheard, and watched, slightly amused. He then turned to look at the other patron.

"You know, that one is better with a little bit of rum added in."

Patron: "I would never think of it"

Airrik: "I'm not kidding you, friend, if you use a darker rum,to pour on top of, and DON'T stir, you'll notice the flavor is subtle at first, and builds as you finish the drink."

The patron thought it over, then told the barkeep, "Do it like he said, I'll try it."

The barkeep smiled slighty, and followed directions. When it was done, the patron was pleased. Airrik, now stood and began to leave, but not before the barkeep walked over and met him at the doorway.

Owner/Barkeep: "You know, these crowds have been a bit much lately. I've seen you in here enough I feel like I can trust you. I could use some extra help, should you ever want some spare gold."

Airrik: "You mean a job? I hadn't time."

Owner/Barkeep: "Call it that if you like. But I know of your travels, and of.. Well, I just think a part time distraction would do you good."

Airrik thought for a few minutes, old memories racing in his head. 'Couldn't be so bad' he thought. Then his answer...

Airrik: ".. *Smiles* The Nyxians get free drinks... When I'm working."

Owner/Barkeep: "Of course.. Welcome back. If you don't mind giving me a hand now, I just had 3 more come in."

Airrik: "Sure, I have a few hours."

Airrik's thoughts raced quickly. He hadn't worked as a bartender since before his death, or his wife's for that matter. Maybe it would be a good distraction after all. Of course, little did he know, a Nyxian would be among his first customers since being back...

((OPEN RP, who's going to be my first Nyxian customer? any takers? Also, this RP for my character means, you may see me working there from time to time, and yes it's true. Drinks are on the house for all of you. :) ))

As beautiful as the city of Dalaran was nothing compared to the tranquility of Silvermoon City. Today however Oneille had ventured into the Legerdemain Longue seeking out a certain death knight by the name of Airrik. Again the peace of the mage city was redeeming but it was not home.

Airrik was at the bar chatting it up with the local keep. Oneille held strong to the knowledge she wanted to pass along. "Airrik!" Oneille called as she neared the bar. With eyes twinkling and smile abound she immediately stepped up waving at the fellow Sin'dorei.

"Airrik! Well, well, well...I am most happy to see you here." a wicked grin forming the young elf held fast to the bar's counter and leaned over, "Since when does a tribe's man work at this fancy place?"

"In life this was my job, acting the bartender for this establishment, " replied the death knight as he began fiddling with the odd assortment of glasses and bottles kept behind the counter.

"Oh...so in even in the undeath you're a drink man? Ironic, no?" Oneille flashed him a smile then her eyes roamed the many patrons hanging about finishing the rum or ales that lined the tables.

"Airrik, if you'd be as so kind...please pour me some ale. I've so much to discuss..."

The unusual glass shimmered in the light as Airrik placed it softly on the bar. Then in true bartender style he said,

"What'll it be?" Smiling

Oneille stood quietly, thinking, but before she could answer..

"How about I surprise you?" Airrik smiled again, and picking the glass back up, he took it quickly behind the counter away from sight, and began messing with different liquids, while he continued to speak. "So you have much to discuss? I hear that there are many happenings around lately, with the kingship and all. I try to emmerse myself in it, but lately I can't help but be aware of the fact that... Well, I've not found anything else out about 'him' ". There was a slight pause, and another smile. This one was hiding a true emotion however.

Of course Oneille knew that by 'him' Airrik was talking about his wife's killer, which had been his main agenda as a death knight for a long time. After a moment, the glass reemerged with a purple liquid in it. Airrik could tell that Oneille thought it looked very strange, so he offered an explanation.

"It's a surprise... All I can say for sure is that it has a lot of rum. Everything's better with rum." Airrik smiled, this was a real one. "So... What did you have to tell me?"

"Airrik, Leothiel asked me to marry him! I am now his intended! I wanted to tell you since I'd figured why not! There were rumors that you worked here though I was unaware of your wife's passing by being murdered...I am sorry." Oneille glanced up at Airrik as she quietly sipped from her heavy drink made for her.

"Airrik I will ask this much..how about you act as bar tender at my reception when the time comes, that is why I seek you. I was told you are a good drink mixer...as it were."

Airrik's smile broadened

"I would love to... Now how much rum should I bring to a wedding... Anyway, that's great news!"

Airrik, then took some of the left over purple liquid from a nearby bottle, and poured into another glass, and began to sip on it.

"What a grand wedding I'm sure it will be. We'll toast to that!"

After a small toast between the two, Oneille leaves, happy from sharing her news. Airrik begins to clean the two glasses, and the bar itself, awaiting his next customer...

A figure appeared at an end seat of the bar. For the two in the establishment, they would recognize the troll as the tempermental huntress, Tasera. At the moment, she paid little attention to the persons at the other end, instead she starred absently at the wall of assorted liquors. On finger tapped the bartop, but it was not in an impatient manner, but more of a thoughtful, contemplative one.

Her vibrant eyes then sparked back into life as she noticed her favorite drink, Dwarvish ale. Most of the horde owuld probably look at her and question this, but a hard Dwarvish ale was something that warmed her gut, just the way she liked.

Despara sat at her feet and yawned. His maw gaping wide and showing rows of teeth, but otherwise, the faithful beast moved little.

Tasera thought for a moment, then ran her troll fingers for her somewhat fluffy sea green hair and without looking at who the barkeep was still, she pointed at the ale, "Barkeep, I'd like some of da Shinin'Iron Brew, on da rocks."

"On the rocks?" Airrik confirmed, in an excited manner. Of course he loved the chance to do old tricks, and even more, he loved showing new ones he gained since being a death knight.

Airrik grabbed a glass, elegantly tossed it behind his back, caught it with the other hand, and then sat it on the table before Tasera. His loyal pet proto drake whelp made a small squeaking sound on the mantle overhead where it was perched, and Airrik snapped his finger at it. The whelp lifted into the air, retrieved the bottle of ale in it's small mouth, and struggled it over to the table. Airrik gave a nod in approval and the whelp flew back to it's perch. After popping the top of the ale, he poured the glass full, leaving just a bit of room.

Placing the Ale back, Airrik grabbed a nearby water bottle and slung it quickly upward, causing water to splash out, while the water was in mid air, Airrik casted a quick and soft 'icy touch' freezing the liquid in it's place, and causing it to fall neatly into five cubes. He caught four of them in Tasera's glass.

"On the Rocks it is, hunter" Airrik sported a sly smirk. "Now, how have your battles been treating you?"

Airrik stayed in range to hear Tasera's reply, and reached for the broom to quickly take care of the elusive 5th ice cube in the floor.

Oneille walked along the streets of Dalaran a spring to her step. After much waiting she as finally going to be wed. There were few moments in her life where things were grand but this was one of them. "Leothiel, soon I'm going to marry you and there will joy and rapture in my life like never known before."

Stopping, Oneille realized that she had passed the tavern where Airrik worked. Fighitng back a gulp she also realized the constant loving between her and Leothiel left a bitter aftertaste for Airrik. Sighing Oneille began to walk towards the bar. There she saw Airrik behind the inn bar pouring drinks and minding his own business.

"Airrik..." called a soft voice, "we need to talk."

Airrik turned seeing Oneille before him a sad look about her face. Drawing both hands into her front, clasped and folded, Oneille peered to him looking sorrow felt. "Airrik my tribe's man I came to say I apologize if my constant public displays of affection are unnerving. Leothiel and I've some right to present our love we're not ashamed of it...and we'd never such actions to put others off."

"Onei...I'm bitter I lost my wife and in all the years for searching for her killer nothing ever came of it..but I am starting to learn about who did the deed." Airrik went back to the cleaning of the bar.

"Airrik...maybe you can do me a favor...come to my wedding and be a bartender. Least that way we get to see you at work, get to see te talent you posses." Oneille began to leave the bar hoping that Airrik would agree...

"...Wait.."

Oneille stopped slightly in her steps and turned to listen.

"Unless the war calls of course", Airrik began, "I would love too."

Oneille smiled slightly, as he continued.

"And yes, it hurts to see you and Leothiel together at times, but only because my own selfishness wishes I still had what you in fact have. I'm sure you would be the same way... But, alas, that don't make it right. What I'm trying to say is. I'm very happy for the two of you. "

Airrik smiled at Oneille, and the two nodded at each other, and it seemed to be enough of an understanding.

((Speaking as Thieldren))

Thieldren walks into the Legedermain Lounge and asks to speak with Airrik personally. Thieldren knew there was not much time so he hastily introduced himself and went straight to his request. "I see you have been asked to be bartender at my brother's wedding. What can you do for a bachelor party? Perhaps some of those unclad blue women that Asarelah told me about would suffice?"
