Aftermath ((open tavern RP after Leikos' transfer))

Postby Tasera » Fri Feb 20, 2009 12:41 am

The White Worg Tavern was lit by a dim fire, casting an eerie glow across all who sat at its worn, wobbly tables. Lanterns that held candles hung over head, being kept in place by old metal chain's that had seen better days. Around the tables a small dog galloped along, picking up scraps that fell from the taverns many patrons. Most ignored it, but a few paid the little beast attention by giving it a pat on the head or morsel of bread. The next creature the dog set it's sights on was in fact a Troll. She was digging into a plate of chicken and potatoes. The little hound came up to her, sensing her acuity to he thoughts and behaviors of animals. The beast came up and whimpered, but instead of showing it kindness, she outright ignored it. The little dog's beady brown eyes starred up at her, but it never caught her gaze, instead it caught the attention of a massive form sitting at the ground, just to the side. The hound yelped and jumped back the moment the massive beast opened two slobbering maws and growled.

The female troll ignored the loud yelp and continued to eat. The green, slobbering corehound at her side snorted and laid it's two heads back on the ground to rest.

Few where coming over, though many eyed the female troll from a distance. Most of those drinking where not sure what to make of her. She had fairly subtle features, at least for a Troll, lacking some of the harden facial expressions that most ladies of her race adorned. Her tusks though were fairly long, giving her a menacing stare to those who still deemed ALL jungle trolls not to be trusted. Her sea-green hair was short, slicked back, but a few bangs still poked forward over her forehead. Her skin was a light blue, but mottled with a little green in a few area's, a symbol of her ancestry. She had her helmet on the table, as well as two swords and an impressive Scourge made bow. And if all her armaments didn't bring her enough attention her massive slobbering Corehound, Bane, would. Luckily for the tavern's patrons, when the hound rested or was relaxed, it didn't release that suffocating green smoke from it's back.

The troll sighed and spoke outwards to Bane, although he couldn't reply he looked up and seemed to listen, "I don't believe dey did that to us Bane..." she said softly. Tasera's held her hands in front of her face, fingers inter locking as she pressed her forehead against them. Her eyes narrowed darkly and she began to brood over a nightelf, "Leikos...."

She hated Night Elves, if she could have it her way, their race would be obliterated off the planet. It was a hatred that was bred into her though. Her treatment in the past from them was never good, and in return, she refused to treat them with any amount of respect. In fact, she didn't want much to do with the prisoner after they found out the interrogations would cease. Yet Aitana came seeking her aid in the escort of Leikos and Tasera would not deny the request, always eager and energetic to assist in such situations.

Things seemed to go smoothly in her eyes, they walked him from Frey Island, if he did anything she did not she set him strait, if he made some weird gesture, she was quick to return the favor, or spit on him. This was not the best way to treat him, but in all truth, she was containing herself. If she did not do that, she may have boiled over if the situation got dire....which it did.

They came across two others, at the transfer. They approached and handed him over. She tried to make sense of their language that she called garbage, but she could understand none of it. The whole time she kept her gaze firmly on Leikos. That was until the others with her noticed more alliance approaching from all angles. They where getting surrounded, and Tasera would have none of it. She began growl, nearly screaming, pointing at Leikos, calling him many different obscenities in the Orcish tongue. He mounted up, and challenged her through more strange gestures. The troll mounted up too, but before she could get the first move, the alliance rushed in, and laid the first blow on her and her kin. Bane came to the defensive, attacking any of them near, but they came on the group like a pack of wolves and quickly, all went dark for her

Tasera both her fists against the table, and lurched over, nearly beginning to cry from the frustration. "Damn da nightelves! Damn da alliance! I'll be puttin' a curse on da lot of you!" Her fists clenched tightly and she rested her forehead against the well used table. Something had unlocked some painful emotions and it was hard to hold it back any longer.

Then, heavy foot steps came up from behind her, and Tasera heard clink on the table. She looked up, noticing a pint of ale before her. She then gazed behind her, noticing the Tauren that would dwarf most races. She recognized him as the owner of the tavern... they had spoken to him any times in the past, "Tasera, I thought you may need this. Drink up, it's all on the house tonight." She looked from the owner, to the pint and nodded slowly, like a compliant child would. The Tauren gave a small grin and turned around to return to his duties. Tasera still kept looking over her shoulder, and noticed the scene she had made. Almost everyone in the Tavern was starring at her oddly. She blushed and turned around. Starring back at the pint, grabbing it buy the handle and drinking up.

Over a week has passed since Leikos was released back to his Night Elf companions. A night few of his companions would like to remember. This Tindr fellow instigated what was supposed to be a peaceful exchange, but the Horde forces were attacked before the exchange was complete.

Luckily a skilled attack freed the contested object from Tindr's grasp long enough for Aitana to swoop in and snatch it away. Making the goal of the exchange complete, if bloody, painful and humiliating.

Today Warburn Smoketusk returns from a mission, just in time to find Aitana, Tasera and some others sitting in the Nyx guild hall comparing notes of their individual discoveries.

The silver artifact was decorated with gold inlay and carvings which seemed to be of Highborne elvish design. Warburn noted that it was in rather good shape with only few marks and scratches upon it considering how many hands it had passed and at least one battle that it went through.

(( Tasera, it's too bad your tavern open RP didn't get any replies. I typed on up last week but lost it due to a browser crash and was so pissed I didn't try again. Anyway, let's get something going ;)

We need to establish the RP for going into Ashenvale and Darkshore to find more clues about this artifact ))

Tasera leaned far into her chair, making it so the two front legs rose into the air. The only thing keeping her from falling flat on her back was her feet, which rested on the table.

She sighed quietly, much of the information that had been gathered was leading them in circles, but she knew they had to keep on pushing forward, to discover the meaning of this mysterious trinket.

Tasera turned and noticed Warburn, she nodded and smiled, then turned back and started to look through a book she found. She looked at Aitana, then back at Warburn.

"Ya know, even doh I have no problem wit smashin tru da Scarlet Monestary dogs myself, dose someone wanna come wit me to dere libraries? Da zealots have plenty 'a text dat could be of use ta us, I jus' don' want ta be da only one who actually has ta look tru all da gibberish."

She grinned.

((Meh it's cool XD. It was fun just to write that up anyways.

But yes yes, I agree we need to get the ball rolling again with this event!!))

"I do not think we will find more there than what we found in Karazhan. That library has still has is extensive even after some of the books have burned. The library at the Monastery is far younger, and I believe this object is very ancient. Besides, we found many books that looked promising and we have yet to finish going through everything we found there.”

Tasera nodded although she did not appear completely convinced.

“So many words, but so little information!"

Aitana plopped the thick stack of papers back onto the table in front of her with a sigh. Tasera jumped slightly, almost losing her balance.

“Ya just said dat we still didn’ go tru it all. Mebbe dere still be someting ta find?”

“I know, but I grow weary of all this. I am not a scholar like Ezraella who seems to enjoy arcane knowledge. She has translated all the relevant passages in those books we found in Karazhan, but there is nothing conclusive, just hints and whispers.”

Warburn looked over at the druidess. “Den let’s talk about de hints an’ wispahs. Wat joo tink a dem?”

Aitana looked thoughtful for a while.

“Of everything we have found, this scroll seems to be the most promising. It does mention an artifact identical to the one we have and it refers to the ‘Scrolls of Mathystra’ that were hidden away back when this document was written. It is ancient and it would seem like logical place to look for something like that would be the Ruins of Mathystra. I doubt those would be tucked away in the Scarlet Monastery.”

The old orc sighed as he returned to his shop, placing the bundle of dragon scales beside the door. His hunt had been profitable and he felt better than he had for some time. His mind was finally clear and he gave some thought to returning to his studies, knowing that would please his old friend Warburn. Still, he had kept some of his finest leathers for his own crafting, and it wouldn’t hurt to gather a few commissions. He would need more coin than his skinning had produced if he were to return to his translations. Research didn’t put food on his shelves, working the leathers did. He looked around at his meager resources and decided Warburn would have to wait a little longer.

Eyesore entered his back room and returned his weapons to their individual niches. He noticed as he did so that his axe wouldn’t stand for too many additional repairs, and even his bow was showing signs of losing its draw. His sigh was even deeper as he settled on his cot and gave some thought to his circumstances. He wasn’t getting any younger and he could no longer afford to be off hunting for months at a time. Then there was Nyx. He had obligations there as well. If even half of what he had heard as he returned from his latest expedition was true, his guild had been through difficult times and the wars were taking their tolls. There was much to catch up on, and much that needed doing. Although for now, he decided with a chuckle, he much needed to catch up on his sleep. His cot had rarely felt so good.

The smell of cured leather hid the smells of the orc city. The coolness of the shop was a welcome relief from the midday sun. The proprietor was sorting through a pile dragon scales on his workbench.

"Greetings, Eyesore!"

The elderly orc returned Aitana's greeting. To look at the humble leatherworker, most would not have guessed he was also a scholar. He was surprised to see the small troop that had come to visit him. They reviewed the events of the past few weeks and the traitorous exchange of the prisoner for the artifact.

"What brings you all here today? Surely this is not just a social call."

Aitana pulled out a few papers and a scroll. She put them and along with a silver object less than a cubic foot in size, decorated with gold inlay and carvings on the table. She pointed to the artifact.

"This is the artifact we got in exchange for the prisoner. It is clearly magical. It is protected by powerful magic. But none of us have been able to determine its purpose or even what it is. We went to Karazhan to check the library there to see if we could find anything there about it. Even though I did not expect to find anything at the Scarlet Monastery, others of us checked there. We have not found much information. I have brought what we did find. We want you to take a look at the translations Ezraella made and we also brought the original documents in case you want them. The ones there on the table are just the ones we thought were most relevant. I think we need to go to look for the ‘Scrolls of Mathystra’ in the Ruins of Mathystra, but some of the others disagree with me. We would like your opinion on this matter."

Svalina's frustration knew no bounds. The object Nyx had gone through so much trouble to attain looked maddeningly familiar but from when. Svalina had been born some 730 years before of a high elven blood line (not that bloodline racial purity etc were of any importance to her. they were not. But there were some few powerfull bigots out there)

That the object was familiar was of no doubt. Not the same object mind you, but something very much like it. Remembering clearly what it was, and more importantly the differences she was certain was vitally important. SHe had made her own side trips to Shatterath city to speak with the Aldor leadership, and her contacts within the Kirin Tor were as usuall unreliable. The Kirin Tor might very well know what it was but they requred the object itself but she had quite sufficiant over the years of seeing an object handed to the Kirin Tor just to see it dissapear with the Kirin Tor uttering grave warning about how it was unsafe for normal mortals to handle such artifacts. Like SHE was a normal mortal, She sighed and listened to the talk. At last she made up her mind and slipped froward to Aitana and Warburns side.

"M'Lady Aitana, M'Lord Warburn. There is another great library in extent also or should be. We have gone through the libraries at Dire Maul, Old Stormwind, Stratholm, and the list goes on... and on.. Yet has no one here been to the seat of the Sunwell? Recall the Burning Legion went there wanting to sieze the Sun Well. I recall to you the tale of Aveena who must still be freed. The great library is likely undisturbed. Demons to not bother with what is written other then in thier own cursed tounge. The Shattered Suns offensive is but a ghost of its former self out there since Northrend opened up. Other then garrison hardly anyone goes there anymore." Svalina bowed and left Aitana and Warburn to consider yet another datum of information. She had work to do, Theo had dropped of materials earlier today for an order from the lady Aitana for one of her householders she needed to get started on the imbued frostweave before Theo got back with the Primal Fire and Primal Airs. the day would bring what it brings. She headed off to her sewing loft.

Tasera had been quietly contemplating the events that had been occurring, as well as the idea's that where being brought up. The past day she had been doing nothing but shifting through the papers, trying to find any information that she could understand. Many of scrolls where written in other race's languages, which made it increasingly difficult for the whole group to get through the never ending piles of knowledge and history.

To pass the time, Tasera had decided to check out the Scarlet Monastery, to stretch her arrow pulling arm, and to allow Despara, her newest hunting partner to get some food in it's gut. She knew that one of the leaders in the Library section of that place must know each, or at least most of the books like the back of their hand, so Tasera, being the lovable little Troll she was decided to have a good time, beat to a pulp the head's workforce and minions, leaving only the master there. After using her two swords, and Despara's drooling jaw's as incentive, Tasera told him to find anything they could have on legendary, possible elvish items. He did bring a book to her, shaking in his hands, giving a big tusky smile, she simply said "Thanks" and walked off.

Outside the Monastery, Tasera seated herself on the ground and began to read through the large book, Aitana was right, all these items where known to most, in fact most of these items where down right worthless in Tasera's eyes "An Elvish fork? How is dat legendary?! I can make sumptin like dat out of fish bones!" Tasera, enraged, slammed the book shut and threw it to some of the goats penned up out in back of the massive building.

The female troll blew a whistle and after a few moments a massive black riding Raptor came out of the bushes. Tasera hoped on it's back, "Looks like we be havin' a night in Darkshore"

She grinned deviously and sent her raptor into a gallop pace, she had to get her arrow's sharpened for the night ahead.

Eyesore wondered at Svalina's abrupt departure, then did as his guild's Oracle requested...he examined the artifact and the documents. The magics protecting the gleaming object were evident even to his unschooled eyes, enough so that he hesitated to touch it. Several of the documents he had studied before, but two were new to him. He took the two, and Ezraella's translations, to a table near his window for better light. Carefully he examined the scrolls, then compared his translation with hers. He was oblivious to the others as he considered the implications.

“Aitana, friends, I know much was risked to obtain these, and at least as far as the documents are concerned, I believe it was worth it. I see several words and phrases differently than did Ezraella, and if Tasera took a shot at it, she might bring still another slant to it. The truth is, times have changed, and it is often a matter of opinion, and not a matter of fact, what meaning was intended. Unfortuantely, these may reference that artifact, or another object altogether. We need the Scroll of Methystra, if for no other reason than to be sure."

Turning to the object Aitana had placed on his workbench, he spoke with less assurance, “This artifact, as far as I can discern, could be anything. The inscriptions are actually simple, but fail to convey meaning, as if random words were selected with no evident purpose. I don’t know what to make of it, and you say our arcane masters have also failed to make any progress. This concerns me, Oracle.” Looking intently, up into the Tauren’s eyes, he words were blunt, “Aitana, this could be anything…”

“Do you understand me? Anything. A trap. A treasure. A bauble. We don’t know. But if I understand correctly, we did not seek it, it was offered in trade, by the long ears. Considering the source, I think it likely to be extremely dangerous, intentionally so. I have long searched for the truth of our past, and more than once have recovered items previously lost to us. But this? I would as soon see it lost, and our people safe, at least until we know more.”

He looked around at his companions, then back at Aitana. “You have brought this into the heart of Orgrimmar. What if that was what our enemies desired? Aitana, this could be anything.”

“As to the Scroll of Methystra, it may well be where you surmise. The Alliance have more than once failed to secure their treasures, keeping them in the very locations where history has left them. The ruins at Methystra were overrun long ago, but the tower…the last I knew, the tower still stands. If Ezeaella and Tasera could join us, I would recommend an expedition to the tower. If you could hold the tower long enough, we should be able to recover the scroll. If it’s there.”

Aitana nodded as the old orc finished. Looking at the artifact, she said, “I don’t know if I agree with your assessment of this…item. We have brought it this far without incident. But I also don’t know if we can afford not to heed your concerns.” She looked thoughtful for a moment, and when she looked at Warburn, she could sense his agreement. Looking back at the old leather crafter, she announced, “I will see it secured, for now. As you say, it could be anything.”

It had been a bloody fight. Death Knights had shown thier value without doubt enabling the guild to swing far off shore and charge into the tower before the Alliance even knew that they were there. The Alliance had obviously left pickits to the south but the battle wisdom of the horde was not a small thing. Within moments of the arrival of the force the tower had been secured and the serch through the documents begun. The Alliance charged the door of the tower attempting a coup 'de main. Moments later the tower door was a shattered ruin and no small amount of the stonework about. It was was still a contricted opening so only a few could try the op If it were a titan artifactening at a time. They held, barely, but they held. It was hard to estimate the alliance numbers but he suspected the alliance had brought near twice the hordes numbers. The word came down from above and the the portals were cast. The search rewarded the party plunged through the portals to Orgrimaar and safety. Later they gather tired and exausted at Warburns steading outside of Orgrimaar.

Theo finally got a good look at this artifact. The runes it had apon it were naggingly familiar. He was reminded of the Titan writing he had seen so much of lately in Northrend which was the source of all of Azeroths runic scripts.. He would do some poking about. In the mean time the artifact was secure. Though Aitana and Warburn did not know it for him to fetch it out of the deathgate he hid it in would require both of them present the next he opened a death gate or it simply would not be the right gate. The Artifact was as secure as it could be in its own private universe. Svalina had passed on that she suspected the library within sunwell platue might have more information but he personally doubted that. There was another source fo data. The Earthen of Ice Crown might just be willing to help. If it was a titan artifact they would be the most likely to know. He would broach the subject with Aitana and Warburn.
