Once I explained to Zindia how you say Slappies name she instantly hated it.

*shrug* Women.

I have been blessed with the talent of simplistic names burying complex personalities.

A front line warrior tank of Mulgore, Gorehorn of course!

A young orc child born to walk the wood? Pathwinder!

An absolutely hateful, spiteful, degenerate warlock? Scornweaver!

The only one I didn't take this route with was Gohjira, which was adirect rip-off of Godzilla, but that was nearly 4 years ago and I am too cheap to change his name.

Gutstripper, Laurelbeard,... you see the pattern.

Aaroooou?

Dis be Marlonis Earthbinder: Marlonis be ambass-o-dor to da Horde from the Hill Council. Da Hill People be part ob da Tauren mountain people ob Stonetalon Moutains. We'd be libe on da mountain edge ob Ashenvale, Desolace, and Mulgore. We'd be muchz goot people, but since ally-squishy attack Hill People ask Marlonis to repersent da Hill People to da Horde.

Marlonis be play da pol-o-ticz and dipl-o-matty witd da Horde. Be muchz goot and Hill People tink bout joining da ranks ob da Horde. Recently ober issues ob eye-to-eye see Hill People stay independent ob da Horde.

Hill People be muchz close to the Earth Mother and Hill People be ob Warriors, Shamans, Hunters and Druids only. We'd be bery wantz left be but ober issues and conflict witd da Dark-Elf expansion and otder Ally mobe Hill People under pressure and wantz war.

Hristoforos wrote:As I log on everyday and scroll over the guild tab I always notice player's names I just can't pronounce or understand how the name even came about! So much like Barefoot's picture post I would like for everyone to have the chance to tell the guild how you came up with your character name. This isn't the role-playing story. It's what the name means to you! I guess what I'm trying to say is the real life story of how your name came about. So that everyone can understand what I'm trying to do here I will start.

Hristoforos: The Bearer of Christ: Χρηστόφορος in greek. (Christoforos is the real name it was taken)

I was once told By a wise old man that " God will never drop anything on your shoulders that you can't bear". When I created my account it was at the end of a very stressful semester. I also started a new job that was stressful from day one(still employed there btw)! With this in mind I was looking for a name that reminded me of the wise old man quote that I live by when things aren't going as planned! This is rare for me but sometime life happens! When I login the name tells me that whatever may feel like the weight of the world its really just enough for me to bear and move on to the next!

well, mines supposed to be like a male form of Medusa, <ie without the a ;p>, but its significant to me, because i luv greek mythology, and i thought it was the perfect name for an orc warlock, plus in my rp lore, hes supposed to be a "tainted" orc who served under the burning legion, but after finding out that he was blindsighted by the legion, he secceded and rejoined the thrall clan, to help them survive, but mainly to seek revenge on the burning legion who manipulated him and many others like him

A surprising number of people in-game know who Thomas Becket was, although I'm also asked frequently whether I'm really named Thomas Becket. I get a lot /w's that go, "Great name for a priest".

Short version: Approx. 800 years ago Thomas Becket was a well-to-do and close friend of Henry II, who was having issues with the Archbishop of Cantebury. When the latter died, Henry installed his friend as Archbishop of Cantebury, assuming that Becket would do Henry's bidding without question. However, Becket took the appointment much more seriously than Henry expected, and the two repeatedly clashed over the years as Becket became more devout and viewed the church as above the King's law. Becket was eventually murdered, presumably at the behest of Henry, who reportedly moaned, "Will no one rid me of this troublesome priest?" Loyalists around him at the time took that as an invitation to murder Becket, through I'm not sure if that's been conclusively resolved.

This is also the reason why I refused to dual-spec shadow. Didn't ... seem right.

Any movie buffs out there should check out "Becket", starring Richard Burton and Richard Harris. I think it won all or most of the major Oscars the year it came out (1962 or so?).

Anyway, so when I rolled a priest, the name popped into my head.

As for my rogue alt, Abagnale, that's another one that could be obvious to anyone who watches History channel or likes Tom Hanks movies ...

I think I'm changing my mind about shadow - I'm really finding the Disc dual spec to have been a waste of money. At least if I DS shadow, I can either dps raid or run dailies solo (or stand around waiting for the instance server to let me in) with a little more ammunition in my belt. I'm sure Thomas Becket had a dark side, too

/chuckle
It makes me happy to see so much originality and taste in names :)

Ennuo - BE Rogue
Ennui was taken, plus it didn't have the same ring to it as Ennuo. name came to me when i found an old tarot deck and liked the names of some of the cards (i was strictly overcome with ennui >.O i don't actually play with those.. sinister things)

òp - Orc DK
upon getting ennuo to level 55, i rushed to create a death knight, and hearing some of the chatter about them in trade i decided upon this name.
The o-grave is strictly because the original name is taken, i'm contemplating changing his name for a more RP friendly one, but i've become quite attached to it.

öp - Tauren Druid
Deciding to follow the same naming guidelines as some of my <The Last Exile> guildmates i named my druid this. after all, what isn't OP about being able to: cast a flyer in mid-air, be a rogue that can heal itself, nuke as well as a mage, tank like a warrior etc.

Iife - BE Pally
Planning on being prot pvp spec in the future, i felt that i should pick something easy to remember so i can strike fear into the hearts of my enemies :b

Miyokutsu - Troll Hunter
mi yo ku tsu arranged in the reverse is tsu ku yo mi. or Tsukuyomi, the shinto moon god.

Schaukr - Orc Warlock
i would have named this one murlock, but it's taken :( Schiaukr is actually part of my name rearranged, pronounced properly as "shi-ow kur". i chose this because it would be fun hearing people mispronounce it ^^.

Other names used for characters include Arddas (arr-thus) and cyanaura, chosen for obvious reasons. and mainly because i really like how DD can be pronounced as tthh (vocalized, as in hither or this)

Tsaphaan- It's Hebrew for 'The hidden one', roughly
(Sah-fawn)

Dalabrac- It's the name of many elven mages I've had in many games.. he's basically the same in appearance and manner in each game
(Dal-ah-brak)

Cazgrinn- sounded cool at the time
(Kaz-grin)

Legassa- It's a very old name in a very old religion for a demon that rules over the aspect of paradox
(Leg-ah-sah)

Name is Oneille

True it's the last name O'Neil or O'Neill

Am I naming myself from an author, actor, or character from a show or book? Nope

O'Neill is the last name of a teacher from my undergrad. Her name is O'Neill and well I liked the look of the name. So I added an "e" at the end at wham!

ONEILLE.

Er how do you pronounce it? Since many call me Onei, Oni, or One they tend to forget that it's Oneille...

I am Oh-Nye-ill

Bah just call me Onei everyone else does :P
