n((nnto you, it might not add anything; this is the generalization that assumes that these changes are for everyone's benefit including everyone's choice of preference. & this is the argument we're currently locked in. Tree of Life doesn't add anything to you, but it does add much to many others; it was introduced & became popular, so popular that to take it away by putting it on a cool down is unacceptable. if this is what it takes to boost up the druid, they can have it.nnalso, lore has been thrown out the window a long time ago, that is the obvious FAQ that can be proven again & again. i like being a Tree, plain & simple & i'm not going to keep clicking it over & over again just to do something as mundane as walking or hanging out - many feel that way, this is a terrible thing for Blizzard to do. i would like to imagine that the tree would be enhanced, there is so much potential for that form to be truly something wild. if anything, change the aqua form into a mermaid.......ok, different subject, but to take the Tree of Life away under these conditions = NO WAYnn))Scarhoof wrote:And that's not even pointing out the lore issues, which everyone seems to be under the impression that druids are actually supposed to be shapeshifting to fill out all their roles. Since when was this part of the lore? Malfurion doesn't shapeshift at all, and he does a ton of healing. Druids in War3 only shapeshifted into beasts to maul their opponents or fly. Since when was Tree of Life (or Moonkin for that matter - I'd like to see that get replaced with another DPS cooldown myself) a "signature" and "defining" druid ability? The signature druid ability are the feral forums since it completely re-tools the druid for completely different roles. Tree of Life and Moonkin simply don't add anything, all they do is subtract and grant passive bonuses that Blizzard is trying to remove anyways.

Honestly I think clinging to ToL form is just clinging to something cultural and symbolic of druids, seriously and truthfully, beyond that ToL is a very mediocre ability.

nnThat was the opinion of the guy i quoted from the druid forums. It's not my opinion at all. Just by reading the notes, I feel that removing ToL is a buff. They are increasing the healing output and giving druids an offensive threat.Valysa wrote:n((nnto you, it might not add anything; this is the generalization that assumes that these changes are for everyone's benefit including everyone's choice of preference. & this is the argument we're currently locked in. Re: SAVE THE TREES PROTEST - Discuss***
While I am deeply attached to tree form, I haven't completely given up hope. Here's why:nnBack when BC came out priests got to look at our new 71 talent point option in the holy tree. There was massive qq about what a crapy spell Circle of Healing was. When guilds finally got to the upper level raids, suddenly the holy priests couldn't live without it. While nobody would have believed it before the content actually came out, the talent point that Blizzard gave priests was in line with what priests needed to do at the time. No holy priest in any serious raiding guild would be without it except for a few that gave it up so the raids could still have Divine Spirit and Prayer of Fortitude. My only hope is that what Blizzard is planning on giving us will be in line with the changes Blizzard is making now.nnBut I still have a feeling that if they get rid of ToL, I'll be playing my priest a lot more.

((The lore of druids turning into trees is actaully not entirely supported by lore. But if you have read the newest book by Richard knackk Malfruion is in fact a tree. But he cannot move and he cannot do anything except watch as the night mare lord terrorizes him. And lets face it a tree that can walk....and jump ...and dance the jig...though I will sevrely miss the dancing aspect it will make it a different sort of rp. And I like to look on the brighter side of this. Now in arenas and Bgs ....we wont be the biggest targets yay!!!!!!. * points at the priest who is bubbled*.))nnHmm no more trees huh? Well boys grab your axes we need to harvest some Alliance wood now or never *grins malicously*

Re: SAVE THE TREES PROTEST - Discuss***
((nnthe dev meeting Blizzard had the other day pretty much revealed that their minds concerning the Tree of Life will not be changed, giving the clear indication that the cool down aspect will remain in effect when Cataclysm is released. many are pleased with the change, many more are not, but in the end, Blizzard calls the shots *shrugs* i had hopes of being a Tree, it's the only reason i even considered rolling a Druid so I can heal in that form that looked appealing. however, the coming changes effectively killed my interest to pursue it further; perhaps it's good anyway, gives me the incentive to concentrate on my Holy spec for Paladin instead, & there's always my Priest whose way behind & after recently reading the potentials for a Holy Priest, think i'm pumped up again to get past this announcement.nnunfortunate for the perma Tree of Life, but if Druids are that adamant about losing it & changes are already finalized, then protests of any sort are m00t at this point --nn))
