As I log on everyday and scroll over the guild tab I always notice player's names I just can't pronounce or understand how the name even came about! So much like Barefoot's picture post I would like for everyone to have the chance to tell the guild how you came up with your character name. This isn't the role-playing story. It's what the name means to you! I guess what I'm trying to say is the real life story of how your name came about. So that everyone can understand what I'm trying to do here I will start.
Hristoforos: The Bearer of Christ: ΧÏηστόφοÏος in greek. (Christoforos is the real name it was taken)
I was once told By a wise old man that " God will never drop anything on your shoulders that you can't bear". When I created my account it was at the end of a very stressful semester. I also started a new job that was stressful from day one(still employed there btw)! With this in mind I was looking for a name that reminded me of the wise old man quote that I live by when things aren't going as planned! This is rare for me but sometime life happens! When I login the name tells me that whatever may feel like the weight of the world its really just enough for me to bear and move on to the next!

Re: What Does your character name mean to You?
My character's name was derived from a loved character from a pencil & paper RPG (D&D). Voltulio: Tulio from the house of Vol. His namesake before WoW was an elven paladin of considerable prestige in both combat and diplomacy. I still have his picture on my wall. I draw all my RPG characters portraits. I dont draw them well, but I do draw them - he looks like a 10 year old drew it, but its mine to love, no one else has too. Something about taking even 5 minutes to draw a character makes them seem more real and personal. I was happy when one of D&D buddies recognized the name of the toon as the name of the old character recently.

I will keep this going too:
Azidahaka, I will not lie, first came to me through the Final Fantasy gaming series in which they include SOO much lore and mythos. The name struck me and when I went to go look it up I came across a whole bunch of interesting Persian deities and demi-gods lots of names I could potentially use. Azidahaka, a persian sky dragon known for creating chaos in ancient times sounded kind of troll-ish. I role play it as Azi'Dahaka like a family suffix similar to Sen' Jin and Vol'jin his son. I even went back to persian mythology for all of my pet names. Angra, my bottomless pit Raptor, is short for Angra Mainyu, the persian diety of destruction. Fitting for a ravenous raptor companion I think. My spider Bahram is from a personification in persian mythology of a constant state of Victory, also persian for the planet mars [Wiki sources]. I figured I would stay with a similiar theme with my names particularly for this very reason! haha. Interesting to see where they all come from. Come on Nyx lets here others! Lets keep this going

Jinzulu - Zul'jin but switched around. Needed a typical troll name for my shaman.
Tiberan - A name I usually pick for my caster classes, it seemed appropriate for an elf mage. Originally comes from some word like Tiberoun that means shark that I mispelled. Last name Tyl'Nauile comes from a bunch of elven words mashed together, supposed to mean Mana Weaver in elvish. (The Tyl'Nauile were the ones who originally made the Manaweave robe so many Mages now wear!)
Vinven - A typical rogue name, comes from the Everquest random name generator.

Iceot: The name he dubbed himself after meeting with his brother...since He's unwilling to use his real name after his brother was stripped of life.
Iceion: The named dubbed to the elder brother of Iceot after he was turned into a Death Knight.
Angusm: also standing for his full name
Angus Roderick Mackieth ((he's a Frostmane/Darkspear blooded troll...got some funky Dwarven slang into his name))

Jeoy - More of a real world explanation for this name. In highschool my physics teacher had a mousetrap car competition. On the roster he mispelled my real name, which is Joey, as Jeoy. After that it pretty much stuck as Jeoy throughout highschool. I figured I'd try to make a character named Jeoy, who would be an alt from my main server. So I got the name surprisingly and decided this would be my main.
Mehtahz - Basically when my old character (Metazz) got taken I decided to create a name that sounded similar to how you would pronounce the original.

Ezraella Kysarrian
Okay. So there are a couple of reasons I have this name
Ezraella is hewbrew for "God is my help". Now, I'm just going to take the first part. God. Yes, I have a god complex. Get over it.
Kysarrian, however, was from a book I once read. Kysarrian was the name of a dragon in that book. So...
Literal translation: Dragon God. Or God Dragon. Whichever you prefer. Suits her fiery personality, wouldn't you say? xD

Kyok (Kye-Ock, not Key-Oke)
Needed something that sounded guttural and primal since I would be hunting people in stealth. Nothing else to it than that, though I was somewhat inspired by the latest iteration of Turok.

Lukkor is a form of Luke which is an inside joke between my wife Shylaa and I so I used it for my DK(name better fitting for an Orc but..). Mwadeeb is of course from "Dune" whos name which spoken has the sound of death. Daelordeyn just seemed an appropriate name for a Blood Elf and Sneakrz of course for a rogue.
Lukkor,
Season 80 Death Knight
Mwadeeb-70 Druid/ Dealordeyn-70 Pally Tank/ Sneakrz-70 Rogue/ Fahzha-70 Shammy/ Bulshavik-70 Hunter/ Gulna-68 Warlock

Ulua is a name of a hawaiian game fish. I've been hunting them for years and they grow to be 100+ pounds. When I made my character I wanted someone to play late nights with me so I named her a Hawaiian name someone would recognize. Ulua is a Giant Jack Trevalle for those of you who fish, like a permit, or pompano.
Yojamba, is my troll tank alt. Yojamba is actually a name of an island in Stranglethorn Vale. It was there where humans came and burned her village and she ran away as a toddler troll. Another troll tribe adopted her and named her as a soul survivor of that village.
