Casual implies that we don't take things seriously, and that no one else needs to either.
Nyx does take some things seriously.
Maturity and respect for one. A "casual" guild wouldn't go through the effort that we do to make sure we have only the most kind, mature and interesting members. A "casual" guild wouldn't spend 30-60 minutes on in-character interviews to make sure that potential candidates will fit, and that they know everything we can offer as they come into the guild.
Raiding is another. We raid to have fun and enjoy good teamwork, not for loot. When we go in to work together we expect everyone to do the best they can for the sake of the 9 or 24 other people there. We expect people to be there for friendship and accomplishment, not to be drama queens about loot. A "casual" guild doesn't have the thoughtful raid scheduling and drafting to best benefit the guild. A "casual" guild doesn't have the caring raid leadership we have. A "casual" guild doesn't make the kind of progression we accomplished, working hard without spending too much time on raiding.
Role-play is another. While we're no more a "hardcore" role-play guild than we are a "hardcore" raiding
guild, the emphasis we put on role-play events and interactions sets us apart from "casual" guilds. We have regular, well-attended social events to foster a strong sense of community. No other guild I know of has that kind of community.
"Casual" and "hardcore" are not the only options. There is something in between, better than either one. That something is Nyx.
