Yeah I'm kinda interested in seeing how it'll be. Think I'll have to upgrade my video card first though

Really like the pay model for that game. I just got burnt out on Lineage 2 though, just the character models seemed too rigid for me.

I have been playing in the beta for almost 2 months now, and it cemented my pre-order of the game. The game runs off the CryEngine 1, which scales fairly well with systems.
This is a game for the more hardcore MMO'ers out there. This does not have the ease of WoW, which is nice for the most part, and PvP can be an all out blast. I will be playing this along with WoW upon release.

Shall we gather up on one server?

I actually went out and bought the collector's edition of this, so I've been on the beta's as they've been coming out.
So far, I'm impressed. Both with its obvious visual beauty as well as the challenge (remember how wow was actually at least moderately difficult in vanilla?) of gameplay and how they've set up the classes. Each class is very useful in its own way and they all seem to have a very nice balance going on. Sorcerors are glass cannons to the extreme. Assassins are tricky bastards who are hell to fight until you finally get a hold of them. Gladiators are like artists with a giant polearm.. always fun to watch one desscimate their foes. And even the non dps classes seem to be fun to play as well, thanks to the ever-so-nifteriffic chain abilities. Nothing more fun than watching your character string together a chain of progressively more powerful moves, branching off into different types of either damage (burst or dot?) or a stun, or in some cases, a move that reduces damage that you will take yourself (templars and gladiators hit with a move to weaken the enemy, use their basic attack, then can shout to reduce damage taken). Battle seems very strategic... you have to understand what moves your enemy's going to have in order to down them. Mobs included. Seems like almost every mob has at least one ability that's stronger than its normal attack and you have to figure out a way to overcome it, else you're going to take a big hit, have to fight adds that they've summoned, or whatever depending on the type of move they used.
I've been exploring both factions too.. Both are evenly matched and the only difference between the two is cosmetic. Elyosians (the angels) are pretty and human-like. Asmodians (The not so angellic angels) are more feral with a mane of fur on their backs and clawed hands and feet (as well as a flip when they jump), darker skinned, and ..oh, when they enter combat, their eyes glow red. Note that the gear looks different depending on your faction. However, you can alter the look of your gear from actual design to the coloration!
Customization is ridiculously extensive. No two characters need to look even remotely alike. Makes RPers like me overjoyed. Though at the same time, there's tons of 2 foot tall little shits running around. Or the normal bodied, but big mascot-sized head people *shudder*.
I haven't gotten to do instances yet, but some folks I was levelling at the same rate with joined up with my gladiator in a group to down some miniboss for a quest. You can have 6 in a group, and it looks like every class has its unique spot in a big team. It's an MMO though and not too alien in how you have to operate. The tank takes the hits, the dps nukes shit, and the healer keeps everyone alive. Note that tanking is not *aggro pulling move, leave to get a sammich, come back and taunt something the rogue pulled off of you*. It's actually got a bit of challenge to it, since every move you have has its own cooldown.
Something else I thought was interesting.. if you don't like that each class is basically pidgeonholed into a certain role, don't fret.. with the stigma system, you can adapt your, say, mystical sorceror to pull some moves from another class. Like... the Chanter (a buff savvy offhealer type class). Take some chanter buffs and put them on your sorceror.. maybe he won't be as squishy as he was before with helpful buffs! ...Or maybe he'll be more squishy, but his damage shoots through the roof. (Who doesn't like one-shotting players your level?)
Another thing to note: FLIGHT!!! This adds one hell of both a challenge and very unique, fun aspect to the game. There will be fights where you have to fly around and such in a tactical manner. For pvpers, this adds a very interesting element as I'm sure you well know. If you play a ranged class, actually got a bit of an advantage on most melee classes. Unlike wow where the rogue 3 shots you while you try to cast your 1.5second spell that thanks to the steady damage, turned into a 5 second cast. or the DK who waits till you get to the end of your cast time then decides it's funny to deathgrip you out of it. Of course, melee classes will have their sinister ways to get at you sky-high missile turrets :P. (In particular, the gladiator move called 'forced landing' *cackle*)
All in all, I'm ecstatic about this one's release. I'm having a blast in the beta.. once they add more servers and the lag goes down as well as the huge amount of folks doing the same quest you are, this will be one hell of a game. It's even got a nice storyline from what I've seen, complete with tons of cut-scenes and actual voiceovers with many different sound files. This is a game I'm going to level slowly in just because I want to absorb the story, learn my chosen class, and just have fun. Honestly, the grind of warcraft gets tedious. And just when you think the hard earned gear you have makes you epic? They make it so that joe-random-orc can do 3 normal instances and outgear you in a day.
I -will- be playing this. If any of you guys will be doing the same, we need to find a server so we can play together with people we know. As well as decide the faction.

Wow, from what I've read, sounds like a cross between FlyFF and Guild Wars.

I really look forward to some of us playing Aion. Preference wise I like the Templar class, and prefer the Asmodian race to the Elyos.
