My boot drive "quit" working and cannot be detected by BIOS. I removed the drive and have been exasperated on the hard part: Designating the secondary hard drive a boot drive.

I won't be on for the possibly the next two nights.

make sure it's connected and double check your BIOS.

I've solved this issue before by simply getting the BIOS to find it again.

BIOS does detect the drive. Windows 7 and Windows Vista installers (both are 64-bit) don't show the drive as an option. Windows XP can format it and designate it as a boot drive but when it goes to load, the system reboots. The loop is constant. I am making a last-ditch effort to extract a driver and see if it detects in the Pre-OS stage.

I bit the bullet and took my computer in under the guise of installing Windows 7. I also told the tech my full issue. I also had my job expedited. Midafternoon, I received a call: Mobo is gone and I have the option to order one. I am looking at some right now online and locally.

Replaced the mobo. HD still wouldn't detect. I talked with someone over at Seagate (Manufacturer of my hard drives). He told me to download and run their SeaTools for DOS program. I did and installed Windows, Kaspersky, Office, Firefox, and now WoW is patching. Fortunately, I have my WTF folder backed up on a flash drive. I just need to reinstall my mods, Curse Client, and Ventrilo.

So you still got hosed into buying a new motherboard even though it was the HD the whole time?

The technician told me why it was my motherboard and told me how he came to the conclusion about the mobo. What was the main hard drive is hosed and I have had that for one year. It's still under warranty. The secondary hard drive couldn't be detected until I had it re-formatted. Everything went fine from there.
