Bringing the RP back to guild

Postby Warburn » Thu Oct 22, 2009 3:28 pm

Tazdingo me brodduhs an sistahs!

As some have already noticed there is a slight lack of RP in the guild currently. In fact I know some have noticed this because several members have expressed their concerns over this. Like everything else, there's a number of reasons for this:
1. Lack of active Ward of Lore officers.
2. People are caught up with PvP, gearing up in arenas, pve and the slew of recent world events.
3. Influx of new members who many are not familiar with.

I would like us to do a few things:
a. RP more. Especially in gchat.
b. if you're new to the guild or never have written a character bio please do so.
c. if you're discussing OOC stuff with just one or two persons, try and keep it out of gchat - especially if it doesn't concern anyone in the guild but you.
d. and please always RP during guild meetings.

I'd love to see more In Character descriptions of in-game events in gchat, more IC group invitations, more IC call to arms, and more IC hellos/goodbyes.

Any thoughts? notes? concerns? Is this something that is acceptable? or not? Let us know.

p.s.
If you're interested in being an ACTIVE Ward of Lore Umbral Champion, please step forward and identify yourself!

Sincerely your hardworking Guild Management

Steps forward shyly as the troll shaman makes his way back from his speech, "Oracle Smoketusk?" Standing before the troll is the elven warlock Oneille Brightgrove. She bows humbly as she walks over blushing a crimson holding her hands neatly in front of herself.

"I know you're seeking help and I am here...I want to help," she raises a hand to her chest pointing herself out.

"'Ey dat be true?" Smoketusk watches her, pipe already in hand as he begins to light the heavy snuff.

"Yes," she replies, "if Lore will have me I'll take the task upon myself to fruitfully bring events for the guild to partake in!"

"I'd like to see my tribe not have to feel without. There are so many ideas swimming about in my mind! I can feel the rush of what we can do or host."

She stands besides Warburn her hands balling into fists as she plots and schemes in her mind, "I know exactly what to do and it's going to be right after my honeymoon."

Warburn raises a brow.

"Erm...I mean.." blushes deeply ears falling back down to the sides of her head, "I have plans."

Grinning sheepishly the elven woman walks away her ideas already in motion.
"We live in dark times with dark wonders. Makes me glad I am a warlock." - Lady Oneille Frosthawk, Mother of the Lion's Pride, Mate to the White Lion.

Taking a puff of his glyphed pipe, the shaman watches Oneille's hips swing rhythmically as she walks away.

"I knew she would be da one." - He said aloud.

Warburn blows a smoke ring and grins. Then looked back toward the gathered crowd.

((I'll write this with the caveat that I understand not everyone has a system that can handle a pile o' addons. That said, when folks pick up and use the description/title functions in the MyRolePlay addon, it provides some good in-character hooks for initiating RP with other players, as well as giving yourself a flag to say "I'm eager for some RP"

Does anyone know any other addons that are good for RP? I've used Lore before and thought it was neat))

((I agree with Cocheli in that we should more heavily encourage use of MyRolePlay and/or FlagRSP2. Beyond that, I think it maybe be wise to start easing the Guild at large into a more prominent state of RP. Let's start working ont eh current Guild storyline a bit more again, since that, at least as I can tell, seems to have taken a downturn. Let's have more regular, RP guild meetings outside of the Wednesday Guild Night, which almost always involves a raid. Heck, let's set aside some time on a few Sundays or something and just have gettogethers that serve no more point that RP gatherings and meet and greets.))

((Before my second drive took a dump, I notice there have been almost no RP events in some time. It's been all raiding and PvP. I am trying to keep the PvP in character as much as possible. The weekly calendar is getting very crowded and I think we have lost some of our focus on RP that has kept the guild together. To me, the guild forum has been like watching one side of a conversation considering some of the drama that has erupted in my absence. It looks like my hard drives will arrive on Monday afternoon, which will leave me minimum time to re-install programs on that day. The chances of seeing me that day will be very slim. Tuesday will be more likely.))
