I was reading about this on Consumerist. It sounds like the GMs are either lazy, understaffed, or both.

TBH, I think they should Implement for cataclysm that there be two options when you purchase the expansion; have copies that have an authenticator or ones that dont. Do not make the copy with the authenticator cost any more, or so little more that it hardly matters. nnThis would help promote account security, and if they do make them required, it gives people no excuse to not have one.

Authenticators themselves barely cost more than $5 anyway, bumping up the price to include one shouldn't be that big a deal since people pay $60 for console games these days anyway. I promise you there will be one in the Collector's Editions of Cataclysm, though.
