Cable vs Satellite?
I have had it with Charter. How do folks feel about satellite Internet & TV compared to cable?

I have been told by a WOW player I know on the "inside" at a major cable provider that you cannot play game such as WOW, or even Vent, with a dish...interesting.

Thul:nnMy in-laws have satellite, and I would touch it with a 10 foot pole. Wicked slow.

Comcast:nnOk, sucky customer service and a pain to get started. But once it's installed, it's working and I have no problems with it.nnConsider though, I use Business Class 50MB internet which is around $70/month. But they do offer 30MB internet which works fine (I just do a lot of internet stuff at the same time I play WoW).nnDish:nnGod I had too many problems with these guys. Not with installation or customer service, no problem there, it was more with the fact that every time it rained, I lost signal. Drove me up the freaking wall..nnAT&T:nnYes, they work, yes, it's good. No it's not nearly as fast as Comcast or RCN.nnRCN:nnThink of a lower end version of Comcast. Same bs customer service, less reliable internet once it's working.nnVerizon:nnI keep hearing about fiber optic internet that's 50MB and cheaper than Comcast. However, it's not available in my area so I can't help you there. But if it's available in your area, check it out. Might be the best bet.nnWell, there's my two cents on this:nn~ Galeandra ^_^

Re: Cable vs Satellite?
nnThis! Do NOT get satellite if you enjoy gaming. The problem isn't bandwidth, it's latency. Horrible, horrible latency.. Like, 3-5 second ping times, if you're lucky. Remember, with satellite those packets you transmit have to go all the way into space before coming back down and reaching your ISP and being forwarded to the game server. Ditto with the packets coming back your way. I speak from experience. Satellite internet is pretty much only viable for browsing the web and the occasional download. If you're sick of cable you can try DSL, which still isn't as good as cable, but it's close. Your problem isn't that you have cable, it's that you have Charter as your provider. I used to have them when I lived in Long Beach and they are terrible. Like Lah said.. Go with AT&T or better yet, Verizon FiOS if you can get it.nnHope this helped,n-LokiThulcondar wrote:I have been told by a WOW player I know on the "inside" at a major cable provider that you cannot play game such as WOW, or even Vent, with a dish...interesting.
