Ok so from WoW.com. "The NDA for a recent Blizzard press event ended this evening, and a deluge of brand new Cataclysm information has hit the net. Skuttlebut had it that 2 Sept is the launch date for Cataclysm. Any confirmation on that anywhere yet ?

nnThey are estimating a September release, but there is no official release date yet.

It's usually a 3-4 month Beta period before they release an XPac but they havn't finished the Alpha stage yet.

nnExactly.. They were originally thinking sep/oct for Wrath, didn't release till mid november.

They have 3.3.5 to release, then the Ruby Sanctum. Surely they won't leave the new content up for only a month or two before pushing the new expansion.

Good point, though I think 3.3.5 is going to drop soon. Extended maintenance last week for some realms was supposedly for 3.3.5 plus there was that official email the other day about RealID, which I'm very excited about! Being able to pester my family members who play from whichever realm I'm on is going to be awesome.
