Account Security

Hail Tribe Nyx!nn There has been alot of talk lately about account security due to Blizzard's latest RealID blunder. First I would like to mention that Blizzard smartened up and changed the Real Names on the Forumns idea. But there is the issue with addons releasing names and emails. It's up to the individual which addons you feel are worth the risk. Our tribe only requires us to have DBM and that's if you are raiding. Keep on mind all addons carry some risk of carrying viruses or keyloggers. Try and stick to a trusted site like curse.com . n nAlong this same line we all have at some point gotten a whisper or an in-game mail promissing us a free mount or something for going to their sites. THERE ARE NO FREE mounts. These are always account hackers. Only good sites are http://www.worldofwarcraft.com or http://www.battle.net (always check spelling) but they don't send in-game mails with links.n nThis brings me to my last piece of advice. GET AN AUTHENTICATOR. Talking to some of you I have heard things like "Eh I don't have the money right now". It doesn't cost that much and most of us that have jobs know that time is money. And if your hacked you spend plenty of time getting it fixed. So it's money spent anyway. And for those that have I-phones or Ipod Touches... Yes There is an APP for that. Battlenet Mobil Authenticator and ITS FREE!! They may have this app for other smartphones as well. Keep in mind though there is warning on this app that using it on a "Jailbroken" (Unlocked for use on other networks) could compromise it's security. Thank you tribe that is all for now.n -Loco

It seems that somebody in Nyx gets hacked about every week. Don't let it be you. Get an authenticator!

Just to add to this, be sure to run a scan on your computer. Ad aware, malewarebytes, spybot can catch keyloggers. I was hacked over a year ago, right when the conversion to battle.net was going on. It took about four days to get my account back. In that time, I changed all of my information, ran scans on my computer and bought an authenticator for $6.50. nnThen again, I've heard that they tend to sell out here lately, so get yours as soon as you can. It's really easy to set up once you get it.

I have an Authenticator, And Gino uses mine on her account, If you have multiple people playing in the house you can share the authenticator. Its actually very nice. Gino just comes and grabs it when she needs it and Viceversa. I bought it right after Ginos account (that had been inactive for 3 months) was hacked, we reactivated it and none of her info worked, I was of course really irritated, xD It showed that she had started the 10day trial for Lich King -.- when she had BC .... Called Blizzard and everything was fixed even an email change. Then Bought the Authenticator and no issues since then.
