Battle Net Dial-in Authentication

Postby Thoka » Tue Nov 16, 2010 12:52 am

For a while now, Blizzard has been coming up with ways to combat hackers by devising creative ways to make security tighter on accounts. Well... they have done it again!nnOn the 9th of November, Blizzard released a new way to authenticate your account. Dial-in Authentication has you set up a specific phone, then call from your phone (and enter a pin you set up) to receive an authentication code each time you log in from a place that is out of the ordinary. And the best part... its free! Now anyone with a phone can have free authentication, and I highly recommend this to anyone who does not yet have a form of authentication. Trust me... I have been hacked before, you don't want to go through the headache.nnThoka Wildmanennhttp://us.blizzard.com/support/article. ... rhtml=true

That's something I may end up using in the future. Thanks for posting!

Yep, saw this the other day, now there is absolutely no reason to not have an authenticator on your account.

The only issue with this is that the dial in only works with WoW right now so if someone gets your password they can get into your account online and disable the authenticator. Blizzard is working on getting this enabled for all of battlenet but until they do I would not bother with it.

Also not an option for people who arn't US citizens. Not that I'd ever drop my authkey anyway.
