While I haven't seen many Lore events when I've been on, don't get discouraged. Many people RP most well when they're just in guild chat. Just keep IC as much as you can when interacting with each other. Throw in RP in little ways. Heck... I even make macros for /yelling in-character battlecries for pvp.nnBuild it, it will come.
