RP apprenticeship idea

((Just an idea that I came up with a bit ago, mentioned the thought in guild chat and a few people told me it sounded good. The thought is simple, arrange for volunteers, hopefully people who feel they understand and enjoy RP events and moments, to help those who are newer to these things learn how they work.n The way I hope the idea would work is that the volunteers and the "apprentices" would find one of the other group who matches their play style enough that they can work together well, this would make it easier for them to attend events together, and arrange random RP. Not only would this make it much easier for the newer RPer to learn about RP but it would also create a story simply by having the "apprentice-mentor" relationship. Again this is only an idea and a suggestion.nnSincerely:n Dark/Zer

Interestingly enough, this is something that Dracmorda & I have spoken about , but in the form of a monthly RP event where we help those who need help with RP. Perhaps in the form of a Tea Party, or a Finishing School. nnI like the thoughts... we should do something soon!

(( I like it. I would be an apprentice now and a Volunteer later. ))

I'd totally volunteer for this, I think it's a great idea.

((Personally I think think this would be fairly simple to organize. The biggest problems I see are arranging for all the volunteers and people in need of help to be kept track of so we don't ignore some, and making sure there's no big schedule problems like someone who only plays at night getting grouped with someone only on during mornings.))nn((The first part of that could be solved with a little topic stating the sign-ups, the second part I don't know about. Also there's the problem of conflicting stories and ways of RPing, no one does the exact same thing as someone else, even if they do something similar. If someone likes playing the good guy in their RP it would be kind of hard to explain why they are following around an "evil" character or vice-versa.))nn((If at all possible I suggest an event to get all the possible volunteers and apprentices together, let them sort out who they work best with, and file them into a forums post so we know who goes with who. Again, it's all a suggestion))nSincerely,n Dark/Zer

(( We could write up two applications, one for volunteer and one for apprentice. Of course, we would need someone to go through the interviews and be trusted enough to match people up. The application could be very simple. As far as conflicting RP story "If someone likes playing the good guy in their RP it would be kind of hard to explain why they are following around an "evil" character or vice-versa". The answer would be because you joined Tribe Nyx. Here we are all family, and volunteers are not only required to help their apprentice (seeing as how they did sign up), but to do so happily. Maybe that means the "bad guy" doesn't rob local banks for an hour, and the "good guy" doesn't do his heroics, either. OR one of the questions on the application is "good guy or bad guy". I, personally, have always wanted to grab a group of players around my level and go explore. It would be dangerous, invigorating, and great for rp. ( ex. After a fight with a mob 8 lvls above the group, "Whew, is everyone ok? I will start a fire and cook us all some food." And then, obviously, make a fire, cook, and heal your group. ) Perhaps the Volunteer can signify on his application if he wants to work with 1, 1-3, or 1-5 apprentices at a time? Just a few thoughts. ))

((If the idea is accepted and there are more "apprentices" than volunteers, then it would, most likely, be necessary for more than one apprentice to a volunteer. As for person to person interviews I suggest again that if everyone likes the idea there be an event to start it out.. a kind of job fair, apprentices get moved around in groups at first to get the general idea of each volunteer and then later they can sign up to interview with them and see if they work well together.))nn((Sadly as much as nyx is like a kind of family as you pointed out there are of course the points where it is TOO much of a family, the "sibling rivalries" showing as players who, in RP, are opposites and enemies. also the occasional drifting guild members who, while willing to contribute will find it slightly harder to work with people they aren't entirely used to. Thus my concern about making sure people work with those who like to do things similarly to them, it becomes less of a way of training someone in RP and more of helping each-other improve and gaining a friendship in the process.))nn((Going back to the "multiple people to one person" point, there is a point at which a one on one grouping in this has its strengths and weaknesses, as does a group or 2 or 3 to one. With a 2 person group you have more personal, and usually more lasting, experience where people are better able to retain it. However it loses some of the social aspect. With larger groups you get more of the basics, and there are more people to meet. The downside is that it becomes harder to focus on the strong points and weak points for someone when you are trying to do the same for multiple people at once.))

Not sure why this has not been commented on by Nightwarder's Swanthula or Dracmorda, in behalf of the Ward of Lore, however I do know that a special project at Swan's work pulled him out earlier in the week and assume Drac is right beside him, toiling away.nnThis appears to fall within their jurisdiction, so I refer you to them for discussion along these lines. Anything must have the stamp of Lore's approval and involvement in and on before you get to carried away pretty please.nnSee Drac and Swan asap. This sounds like fun.

nn((Of course lah. As I was saying it was only a suggestion and I wouldn't make more of it than that unless it was approved by those in charge of things like this. If I see drac or swan I will be perfectly happy to ask them if this would be an acceptable idea.))
