Serim get her axe

Postby Theotaz » Sat May 09, 2009 2:16 pm

Serim held her shot. The great bow held firm and unwavering in her hand as she sighted on on the great ape. The shot would need to be released soon. The pull of the bow at the very edge of her strength. Only through a specific technique could she even draw the wepons bow string. The bow was a wonder to behold. A gift from the dragons to Theotaz, he in turn had gifted it to her. Made from the bones of a immature dragon the parts of the bow showed the coloration of the black dragon flight. But these bones were very very old. Theotaz had told her that the bones came from millinia before the burning legion came to Azeroth the first time. From when even the elves were living in ther rudest of huts prior to them discovering the well of eternity. The Elves, decended from Trolls that had been touched by waters from the well had not yet found thier way to the well and were still wild nomads of the forests living in the frontiers between the ancient Troll empires and Dwarven stedings the had then dominated the world soon after the Titans had gone on. The bow of ancient dragon bones seemingly fused together in a form that gave tremendous thrust to an arrow. The bow string like nothing known. A type of sinew but unaffected by weather and unworn by use.

The arrows she used were normal in all ways, such as any would use, but the bow was special beyond thought and she treasured it mightily from the day that Theotaz once hunter, now death knight had gifted it to her when she was recognized as a hunter of 5th rank. It had served her well through all that had followed. Theotaz had told her that it would serve her well into the 80 rank. She had not belived him then, but she belived it now. No other weapon she had handled since rivaled to power of the great bow. As her abilities increased so did those of the bow, seemingly to challange her to greater efforts. Some bows had come her way that seemed to have great power but the flexibility of this bow was still unrivaled.

Trusting in her weapons and her own skills she held the shot. The bow bent strongly. Her left arm outstreatched before her elbow locked gripping the bow, an arrow resting just above her gloved fingers.. Two finger of her right hand also gloved and holding the bowstring either side of the nocked arrow at her ear. The bow string sang a quivering song of mayhem held in check. The wind was till. The Ape in her sight appeared to be following a scent of some game animal, its awareness of her non-existant. It had a lurching walk as if its leg on one side had been injured. It came closer. And closer still it snuffled to a confused halt not 20 yards from where she sat holding bow ready and arrow nocked. It raised up on its hind legs sensing danger near but not what. Beating it chest rapidly it displayed its threat posture bellowed its challange to the world

Serim sighted down the gullet of the creature and released. Like a sigh of wind the arrow silently accerated forward. The bow with a sharp short clack releasing its tension to the arrow granting it massive thrust to the projectile. The arrow shot across the intervening ground as fast as a thought and pirced through the roof of the Apes mouth, slicing through its spine and projecting out the back of its neck. The creature convulsed once and dropped. Serim slowly released her breath and noticed once again the sounds of the jungle around her. The great white lion at her side stood at last yawning and streatching. Rolling over suddenly he threw leaves in the air, just to rear and bat at them as the fell. Serim just smiled, reached out and scratched the great cat behind the ear wishing she could be as certain of her skill as he was. She had dared to hunt the Ape she had killed on a drunken bet with a booty bay bruiser who was off duty. She regretted it now.
Out of her blind she padded softly, the white lion pacing quietly beside her. Dropping to one knee she cut the arrow head, and feathers of the bow shaft piercing the great beast and removed the arrow. Thanking the forest spirits for tolerating her foolishness she vowed she would never do this again.

As she got ready to skin the pelt of the beast after pulling out some of the more tender and flavorfull organs for the cat she noticed a hilt underneath the creature. Reaching down she pulled and came up with the harness sheath and a great axe. The axe was a two handed axe with a bearded single edge head. Runes flared on the weapon at her touch, and an aura of flame erupted about the weapon. It's balance was perfection. Runes chased each other up and down the handle and blade. She straped the axes harness on over her own armor making a few adjustments here and there. Holding the axe in her hand she knelt beside the corpse of the great ape and thanked its spirit for this great gift. She made a vow just then that she would never take weapon to any creature in jest or sport. That way lay ruination for all, and the death of the spirit. No longer would she do this. Giving the Axe a final heft before securing it in its harness, she considered the joy she would feel if the Goblin attepted to reneg on the bet. She shouldered the pelt and as quietly as possible made her way back to Booty Bay. Stranglethorn was a very unforgiving jungle to the unwary and unprepared she went slow. Easing past the camp of the Southsea bucaneers she finally spotted the tunnel enterence into the trading outpost.

The Tavern was noisy as usuall. Looking about she didn't see the bruiser she had made the bet with. she ordered a tankard of the sour beer the Goblins made locally and settled down at a corner table to wait. several horde and alliance came through while she waited. By late afternoon the bar started to crowd as the Bruisers came off shift. Her goblen hadn't arrived yet so she continued to wait. She heard him before she saw him. He was telling a companion about how a foolish hunter fresh in from Durotar had taken his bet the night before and about how he was going to enjoy collecting the bet. Telling his friend how he would collect his winnings and then go search for the hunters remains. Her gear he said would make him a few gold if it wasn't torn up to badly. She grinned a feral grin and let him carry on awhile as she sat quietly in the corner. The yammering of the goblin was irritating in its braggado. She could take no more. SLowly she rose from her seat. The hide of the ape in her hand she stalked over to the table the goblin was at carousing with some of the other bruisers and laid the still bloody pelt down in front of the bruiser.

"Time to pay up Thimblepink, Theres your ape pelt." Thimblepink looked at the hide in shock.. "No way you could have taken down the ape without help, You Cheated!" Serim loosened her newly aquired axe ready to draw it at a moments notice. "Cheated you say goblin? You dare to accuse a member of the house of Theotaz and of Guild Nyx of Cheating? FOOL! there is your pelt, there was no cheating. The kill was my own. Even the Lion beside me did not assist. A single shot. You can even see the hole made by the arrow" she said as she pointed out the only imperfection in the hide. Thmbleskin cursed and replied "You had to have cheated, no way a hunter of 35th rank could take one of these down. You lost the bet hide or no hide. Even the merchant princes would not belive you. Its time to pay orc."
Serim slowly drew her Axe, its head sputtering and glowing in a fiery aura. "You really might want to reconsider your accusation Thimblepink. Because you will pay up on this fairly won bet or your blood will decorate the boards of Booty Bay." The bruisers about her begane to mutter angrily and the sounds of weapons being drawn could be heard. A voice spoke. Deep and heavy. A Drenai approched the table. "Trying to swindle an Orc Thimblepick? You surprise me! I saw this hunter take down the ape. Orcs are not known as a race of liars" The Drenai was a paladin from his armor and equipement. A great crystal mace hanging at his side.

Thimblepick scrambled to his feet his war club held ready. The other goblins quickly joined him forming a phalanx of weapons and spite in the taverns main room. The bartenter seeing the deveoping situation ran for the stairs. The Paladin addressed the Serim "You are the Hunter Serim. I know your house and guild. They are honorable, and do not enguage in atrocity or meaningless mayhem even in war. I am Balack. Thimblepink there tried to swindle me long ago. I still owe him for that. WIll you accept a truce between us as horde and alliance to deal with this liar and thief?" Serim smiled. "Yes I will.". a handfull of other Alliance and horde rapidly disarmed the bruisers that were not part of Thimblepinks cabal that were present at the inn. A sound of running came from above a Tauren came down the stairs "Stand Down!" The tauren, none other then fleet master Seahorn obviously held authority here. The buisers about the room still armed lowered thier weapons "now whats this about?" The bartender emboldened by the presence of authority informed the fleetmaster of the previous night bets and the afternoons happening pointing to Thimblepink, Serim, Drenai Balack and the ape pelt on the table between them.
Seahorn walked over and picked up the pelt, examining it. Putting a finger though the hole made by the arrow. he exclaimed "excellent shot." Flipping it over to show the reverse side he examined to pelt further. " Drenai, you say you saw her make the shot?" he asked addressing Balack. "Aye, a single shot into the beasts mouth. I heard the sound as it shatterd the apes spine. She's a respectable bowman. I would not enjoy being her target"

Seahorn laid the pelt back down. "Thimblepink, you lost your bet." he turned to the goblin, "and I tire of this game, any more incedents involving you and I'll be hanging your dead hide from the gibbet at the fort. You are confined to quarters as of now for the next 30 days." Pointing to two somewhat larger then avaerage bruisers he ordered "Remove him!". Hooking a finger to the bartender "Your the stake holder? Pay this woman her winnings!" The bartender scrambled for his lock box pulling up 4 bags of coin and setting them on the bar top. Seahorn lifted a brow "Thimblepink gave you odds?". "aye" serim replied " 3 to 1 that I could not bring him the hide of a great ape killed by my hand by sunset this evening. He seems to have labored under the assumption that not only would I fail, I would die. He was wrong." Seahorn grinned. "Good. Hes a good bruiser, but a lousy gambler. Him loosing bets like this keeps him employed here." He turned to serim. "you have any more problems with him see me first please. And congradulation on winning your bet ." He turned to head back upstairs.

Serim turned to the Drenai Paladin. "Thank you for your assistance. I owe you a debt. Had you not stood forth I would attacked the insulting little pest and likely been slain for the effort." Balack shook his head. "you owe me nothing orc. What I did, I did for honors sake." He grined, for I also no him as an insulting pest. You should have no more problem with him for awhile." Serim picked up the Ape pelt.and held it out to the Paladin. "please accept this gift of appreciation from me as a token of the debt then that I feel I owe. It will make a fine tale to share with your mates, and with even the pelt as proof." The drenai nooded his acceptance. "Yes, this will do." Taking the pelt he raised his mace in salute. " I must go orc hunter Serim of Nyx and House Theotaz. Perhapes we will meet again.". Serim considered. "yes, perhapes we will." The drenai left the bar heading towards the auctioneers post. Serim made her way down to the dock to take boat back to Rachet. her new axe a heavy weight apon her back. She would be useing it quite soon she was certain, but not today.
