“Focus, Ezraella!†He stated in heated temper. Once again, she had forgone the preparation phase of her magic’s and simply attempted to cast, covering the dummy she was using as a target in a black smog-like substance. Soot, in other words.
Standing in an abandoned hut just in the outskirts of Silvermoon, Ezraella quietly contemplated the uses of hair products while her tutor lectured her over and over about the rules of the arcane and preparing oneself for the power that one can unleash. She had natural ability, so her mother stated proudly to her kin.
Wearing basic black robes, she spent her days outside of the classroom simply practicing her other skills. Tailoring was one of them and she enjoyed the fine work, however, there was something else that was nagging at her being. As joyous as her life now was, she felt that she needed to leave, to explore the world, hence wishing to learn more about her abilities before venturing forth into the unknown.
Though, on the same hand, she didn’t live for the revenge that her brethren strived for. The Scourge was indeed as bad as it was… And the Lich King was someone to be feared… The Alliance hunted them ruthlessly, yet none of this truly mattered. What mattered was becoming something more. What mattered was stepping forward and creating a new future and a new reputation for herself and her brethren. Admittedly, the hunger for the arcane power was a true daemon, but wasn’t that the way of life.
“It will be some time before you are ready, Ezraella. You must focus.†He stated bluntly. Her master, Tilarn, was a man of pride and she was the opposite. She just wanted to exist as best as she could.
“I don’t enjoy the arcane lessons,†She quietly said, her eyes turning away from him. She knew he would be disappointed, but she preferred honesty, “I prefer the fire magic’s.â€
“I am aware, Ezraella,†Tilarn slowly sighed, “But you must master every aspect. It is what is expected and what your mother wishes for you.â€
“I don’t care,†Ezraella began, “I want to learn things on my own! I want to be strong, yes, but I want to feel like I’ve achieved something important in this world.â€
“Stubborn girl,†Tilarn stated again, folding his arms into his elegant blue robes, “And a predictable one. Do as you wish, then.â€
Ezraella simply turned on the spot, focusing her eyes on the forest before her, “I will. And neither you, nor my mother will stop me from doing what I want to do.†With that stated, she began to walk off, Tilarn calling after her. She simply ignored it as she entered the forests, retreating to her own thoughts.
“I could leave,†She thought to herself, “Go to the Orcs, or one of the other races and see what life really is about… I could travel to the far reaches of the Outlands and discover the truth of the fighting for myself. I could find out why our brethren deserted us and went there…â€
The walk seemed longer than usual and she eventually approached her abode. But her hand halted at the door. Her dreams lay before her. Everything she wanted to become. It was not a hard decision to make.
