Virus?

Virus?
I'm not sure what is going on, but four times today my virus scanner has given me a warning that it has been turned off. Each time I have turned it back on. My first thought is that I have picked up a virus. I am looking for any words of wisdom on how to proceed. Currently I'm running a full virus scan with what I have (McAfee). What would you techie here recommend I do next?

It's possible that it's being shut off by a program that doesn't function properly while it's running, but not likely. The more likely scenario is that you've picked up a nasty virus that isn't in the definitions file with the ability to shut McAffee off. If McAffee isn't finding anything after having its definitions updated, I would recommend downloading a free antivirus such as Avast or AVG and conducting a full system scan with that, to see if it finds anything McAffee may have missed.
