An acrid aroma drifted through the tavern's door. Trailing behind it, a disheveled blood elf. The other patrons scratched their heads as this mysterious figure hauled itself and its luggage behind it. Once a pile of papers was mounted on a table with all the suitable writing implements, the figure gestured for the barkeep.
"You have funds?" queried the skeptical barkeep. A shiny golden coin tossed to the barkeep provided all the necessary answers.
"An ale, some stew," rasped the blood elf, "and send for my master, Bael'spar Mon'tisto, Light of the-"
"That's really unnecessary," interrupted the barkeep. "We know who he is, and another two of these might settle up his account." With a thump on the counter, a small bird fluttered off into thin air. He then brought the ordered food and drink
With a greedy abandon, the blood elf devoured the stew, finished his ale in three swigs, and collapsed on the table. Some of the curious had drawn closer to see what they could discern of this stranger, but he gave them no clues to follow aside from his association with Bael'spar.
In nearly an hour's time, the glistening armor of Bael'spar set foot in the Tavern. With his nose all awrinkle, he pulled a device from his satchel. Slowly he advanced with the item pointed at the slumbering blood elf. Once within a few hands distance, a cloud of vapour poured out from the device. The air in the tavern took on the scent of the Warsong Lumber Camp, tree sap, orc sweat, and saw oil.
"Blast," exclaimed Bael, "I still haven't gotten the orc sweat out of the system."
The sleeper awoke in a cloud of tree scented orc sweat, and sputtering. When he had gathered his bearings, he sketched a bow toward his master.
"I apologize for the unclean state that I appear now, master," rasped the blood elf, "I thought it more important to bring this." His hands thrust ancient parchment at Bael'spar.
"Yaen'gohl, why don't you just tell me what this is about." Bael'spar sat down, and motioned for more refreshments.
"As you know, we rogues ply our trade against the Amani trolls. Well, when I was going through their artifacts, I came across papers like these. My desire to keep antiquities one over the urge to toss them aside as troll waste."
Yaen'gohl searched through the pages, and pulled one to the surface. Again, he thrust the sheet at Bael'spar.
"Master, do you recognize the seal?"
"No," sighed the paladin, "please continue with the heraldry lesson."
"Lis'lotte! Magistrex Lis'lotte!" Yaen'gohl peered into his master's eyes for any sign of understanding. "Her husband, Bloodknight Quo'rag led an expedition into the Amani lands before the Sundering?"
"You mean the search for the hidden Amani treasure! Kautr'mayn was never able to find it! He was certain that any clues to its whereabouts were lost. The Amani probably ate anyone involved because he found Quo'rag's journal! It's one of my favorite plays!"
Well, yes, master, that's one way of looking at it." Yaen'gohl marshalled his forces to get his master back on track. "Lis'lotte was a very powerful magistrex. She was also very social. She wrote letters. Many letters. These are copies that she must have kept. Anyway, I have reason to believe that she makes references to the Lady Nyx."
"My dear Yaen'gohl, after you have finished catching up on all the duties you have failed to do while on this silly quest of yours, you should get some rest. You're obviously not well. Besides, I make references to Lady Nyx all the time, and you're not trying to make anything out of that."
"These are historical references, master. Magistrex Lis'lotte lived at the same time as Lady Nyx. I will have to render a full search of what I find to the Librarian and any other interested party. I will endeavor to do so in a manner that will see that my duties to you are fulfilled as well."
Bael'spar nodded and then headed to the door. A random thought drifted through his head, and caused him to turn.
"Yaen'gohl, while you do this research, I want you to discover what you can of Valeris. This might be important." So saying, he left.
Yaen'gohl gathered his things, put some more gold on the counter, and left for the Library. He had a lot of work ahead of him...

((This is the beginning of my contribution to the historical side of Nyx. Also, I tied in a bit of some RP that happened with Aitana, Cochelli, and Redflare. More to come.))
