The Only Constant in All Things

Postby Gorehorn » Thu Jun 17, 2010 10:58 pm

The constant grain in all fields is the grain born of change. With time and nurture, it grows in all things and all people. In my nearly 3 years walking the halls of <Nyx> I have seen many of these grains fall to the earth, germinate and grow, expand even up to the reaches of the heavens. Some have bloomed and grown out to spread to new fields. Others have withered for lack of sun or sustenance, driving them back underground. These seeded grains, each and every one, I have been brothers and sisters with. nnBut now, the grain that is Gorehorn and all his incarnations has seen it’s end. The landscape has changed from open verdant fields to carefully arranged planter boxes with expertly cultivated growth, fertilized strength and intrepid pruning. <Nyx>, the lovingly minded back yard garden, is no longer a valid place for the old scrub-oak that represents my character collection here. I have never had a single purpose or direction for myself nor my characters but rather to dabble in all things in a world of welcome. nnI salute you, my brothers and sisters, some that know me from long ago, others that barely know me, and those that know me not at all, for your works are noble and you carry a guild tag of one of the oldest, greatest, strongest guilds on the entire server. How you present yourself here is forever seen through the lens of that tag floating over your head. Do it justice and it will not abandon you.nnStay well. Slay well.nn<<OOC:nThe world that is Emerald Dream is no longer a welcoming place for me. Efforts on both factions are in play to consolidate or control all things and <Nyx> is in a struggle with those forces. Sometimes aligned with, often against, but the landscape of the server has changed in such a way that the people I came here with and the reasons I came here for are largely gone. I joined <Nyx> in November of 07 with the merger of <The Twilight Umbrage> along with Aitana and a host of others. I believe that Aitana, Zindia, Sunseting and I are all that remain of that storied union. Zindia (and all her incarnations) will be leaving with me when we leave the server. The mob/zerg mentality that has come to dominate the server is the primary reason for Zindias desire to leave. I can not allow her to leave alone to fend for herself (she is my wife afterall). I have grown tired of the state of the server and the ferocity of the entirely too personal aspects that pvp has taken on Emerald Dream. It has decimated, in my opinion, all the great efforts of cross faction RP that <Nyx> has been so successful in creating in the past. I fear it will taint Nyx's works far into the future.nnFarewell my friends. There are too many of you I will miss, but among the very most, I must mention my fellow Elder Eyesore. If not for your efforts sir, I would never have had the opportunity to join <Nyx>. I will not say good bye to Aitana, because, frankly, we have been friends too long for me to escape or for her to ever be fully rid of me.

If there was one Nyx member that has consistanly impressed me in thier wisdom its you Gorehorn. I respect your opinions and decisions as a fellow guildy but also as just a guy. When tempers flared you would always come down with a Hammer of Logic. nnYou will be missed. You will be remembered. nnnAloha Nui nu

*falls to her knees weeping openly as part of her heart tears away*nnGorehorn... Zindia.... You will be sorely missed. I pray with all my heart that you are happy where the winds blow you.nnI, most of all, will miss your wise counsel, Gorehorn. You could always be trusted to jerk me back in line when need be, and show me where I might have fallen short. Few have your courage.nn*salute*

I'm going to miss the hell out of you Gorehorn. You were always one of my favorites to chill with before I left. It's sad to see so many "old guard" Nyx leaving. And I agree with Lah.. You were always the one that was able to talk reason into people and get them to stop fighting and bickering about petty stuff.

Gorehorn the Massive. I will miss thee in game. Though I hope you keep in touch IRL and come visit me again in SF, and I you someday. nnI have learned a great deal from you my friend. And it's no exaggeration to say that your departure might be the greatest loss the guild has ever experienced. Stay well my friend, slay well!nnOne love and much respekt!

It was rare for the old orc to head out without Sorrow at his side, but the ageing lion was a comfort that he did not seek. Even more rare, he left behind his weapons and armor, wearing simple linen clothing and carrying only a worn and battered staff of ashenwood. He had no destination in mind, he would go where his tired feet would take him, come what may.nn...come what may, he thought. In truth, what did it matter? He looked around, noting he had been climbing. Absently, he also noticed that the dust on his sandled feet was splotched with moisture. Eyesore settled down, his staff at his side, and watched the tears drop from his deeply lined face onto the dry, dusty ground. Testimony, he thought. Testimony to a loss that seemed unendurable. What did it matter, indeed? His tears would mend nothing, heal nothing. Still, they continued to stream down his face. Vision blurred, he looked around, seeing nothing. What was there to see, anyway? Gorehorn was departing for the wilds, for untamed lands, Zindia at his side. That was good, wasn't it? Still, the tears wouldn't stop.nnTo be young again, to join them, but he wasn't young, not young at all. He wasn't going with them, but he wasn't going anywhere else, either. Where he sat suited him just fine. Besides, should he move, the wind would just dry the trace of his tears. Where was the testimony to his grief at his dear friend's loss if he did that? Everything was blurred, anyway.nn.
