WHO IS LADY NYX
Lady Nyx is an old soul. Over 13,000 years old. She is feared and revered by all that know of her, for not everyone does. Few were lucky, or unlucky enough to have seen her. She is an immortal who often shifts through planes of existance which has earned her the title of Lady of Shadows. She was once a Highborne, but can use a variety of female disguises. She is related to Lady Sylvanas and is revered by Thrall. She has formed a legion of members of the horde - The Guild of Nyx.

If you ever have the honor of meeting her, or just hearing her - she will no doubt seem: All powerful, all knowing, feared, awe-inspring, impatient, and putting it mildly - bitchy.

She is her minions source of pride, honor and even power.

Background
Born to a noble family line in Zin Azshari before the Sundering. Her father - Akanyaar, was a scholar who specialized in Dragonkin lore. This is when the Dragons were good and Neltharion the Earthwarder wasn't corrupted yet. Before the War of the Anients, Neltharion's daughter Onyxia was friendly to the Highborne and taught those who she got to know much. Akanyaar and Mikalynii, Lady Nyx's parents, named their daughter Onyxia, after the current Brood Mother's true name.

Onyxia, our Lady, grew up awash in ancient knowledge (even back then it was ancient, but all but forgotten knowledge today). Before her adluthood really started at age 300 Deathwing's betrayal and the sundering shook the world to it's core, and her family and most those she knew perished in the Maelstorm that followed.

Lady Nyx, with the few surviving members of the Highborne court fled to found the kingdom of Queldanas. For the first couple of hundred years there she helped found the new Sindorei nation. Following in her mothers footsteps she became a priestess, but retained her father's lust for knowledge and studied what she managed to salvage of his writings.

One day she was experimenting with the power of Shadow using the Sunwell's energy. She was completely in a trance and astrally projected in the shadow plane when Arthas attacked and corrupted the Sunwell, destroying it. Her body and spirit were forever transformed into what she is today - a Lady of Shadow, with amazing mental power. Her transformation and the destruction the Lich King brought to her homeland made her bitter and angry, and she would never show the splendor of a radiant smile again. While she is bitter about what has happened to her, she is passionate about the well-being of Azeroth and determined to oppose those that threaten it.

She was a high elf, but now she is more like a Shade of a Highborne Elf with great power. Although there are limits to her power. She is still considered "all-powerful" by her followers. Her areas of mastery are ones of knowledge and the ability to connect directly with an individual’s mind. She can inflict great mental anguish, knows what the person is thinking, can project her own thoughts, and to a degree, influence a person’s thoughts. She is stingy in how she divulges what she knows because she wants to say in control of how her knowledge is used. She directs the actions of her followers, but she has limited ability to act on her own behalf because her corporeal body is weak and she has limited ability to take physical action.

Personality wise, she is a bitter immortal. Impatient, and unmerciful most of the time. She commands respect and when she receives the honor she demands she's less likely to release her angst fury. But for her loyal subjects, she cares for them deeply, and might yell at them more then others... out of love. She expects greatness from all her subjects.

99% of Lady Nyx's history is unknown to her subjects.

ORIGINS OF THE NYX GUILD

Nyx was founded when a mysterious lady of shadows appeared before Wakanda Tallbear, a noble druidess, and tasked her with leading the most heroic, chivalrous and mighty members of the Horde. This happened not long after the Forsaken were admitted into the Horde.

Over the years Lady Nyx, and her chosen Leaders. created her tribe to be stronger, mightier and the most noble guild in the Horde. Their conquests have become the stuff of legends.
Lady Sylvanas, her cousin, bequeathed upon Nyx charge over her very own Twilight Umbrage - a guild of heros devoted to fighting the Old Gods and their followers the Twilight's Hammer cult, and by extension due to the link with Sargeras behind the formation of the Twilight's Hammer cult, Sargerasand the Shadow Council.
Thrall gave the Nyx a building in Orgrimmar to use as their Library.

* Strands of Fate whole story line from the Alliance perpsctive
Rumor from Booty Bay - led Nyx to suspect the alliance was planning oin building a new tunnel into the Undercity. The Alliance forces of Alshar Lo Dorano and Kingship of the East was met in Tristfal Glades.
Captured Enemy - Khargh tracks the Leikos Darkwood - an alliance commander and gathers intel as to when he will infiltrate Durotar. A dozen or so Nyxians lay a trap and captured Leikos. He would be later traded for a mysterious artifact.
Nyx scribes and loremasters immediately started looking into unlocking the artifacts mysteries. Scribe Eyesore was sent with an escort to the Tower of Althalaxx in Darkshore to seek a scoll. This is when mysterious runes started appearing on various Nyxians.
The return to Azshara - was when more Nyx loremasters were dispatched with a security force to gather clues as to the source of the runes and the artifact. An alliance war patrol intercepted the Nyxian forces.
Artifact, artifact, who has the artifact?- Artifact research continues until one day Azimsuddenly steals it in the middle of the night. Oracle Aitana Tallbear attempts to track him but gets captures by Alshar Lo Dorano forces.
Aftermath thread - is 8 pages long covering all the events starting from the release of Leikos, Azim's being brain washed by the black dragon flight, Aitana's capture and release and finally the destruction of the artifact.
Warburn gets kidnapped - on his way to Blackrock Mountain to meet the rest of the Nyxian forces and destroy the accursed artifact. A valiant rescue was executed to spring the Oracle out of the Stormwind Stockades.

The forces of Nyx defeats Kel'Thuzad and his Naxaramaas minions. The Onyx Guardian Sartherion is felled. Zuldrak is freed from Arthas' domain and his Icecrown domain is nearly taken under horde control thanks to our tribe. Onyxia's brother Nefarion is dispatched to Yogg-Saron's domain..
29 Ulduar & the Call of the Crusade
Lady Nyx's forces of Nyx penetrate the frozen north City of the Titans Ulduar. They enter the Halls of Loken and Sjonnir the Ironshaper. The Titans Antechamber is also cleansed of Yogg-Saron's madening influence and his General Vezzaxx is slain. At the same Lady Nyx's forces challenged and defeated the Alliance Heroes and everything the Argent Turnament through at them, even Artha's Nerubian Hero Anubarack couldn't stop them.

Meanwhile her senior officers became affected by a mysterious artifact. The War Runes made them lust for blood and a War broke out between The Horde Assembly and Kingship of the East. Only months after the artifact's destruction did the War finally end.

The Burning Legion attacks, and to stop Sargaras the Titan from enslaving all life, the Well of Eternity is destroyed. The Sundering destroys a third of the world, and splits the continent in to two.nAfter the sundering the Dragon Neltharion the Earth-Warder became knonwn as Deathwing the Betrayer. And thus Lady Nyx started receding into the shadows, in fear of retaliation from those that connected her to Deathwing's daughter Onyxia.nnnThe Highborne, Lady Nyx included set out and establish Quel'Thalas in the nothern reaches of the Eastern Kingdom. The Sunwell is created with a vial from the original Eternity Well. Lady Nyx continues serious arcane research and get's interested in demonology.nnThis is where our lady gains stature, knowledge, wisdom and age. Until the well's destruction and the exodus of the High Elves to Outland.nnShe is related somhow to Lady Sylvanaas a Ranger General on the front lines - later to be turned into a banshee by Arthas the Death Knight.nnnPost lore leading up to the 2nd wells destruction here.

It mentions the cold north and the sunwell. So that is my assumption. What is he proposing, destroying the well? Is this the guy who destroys the well?! That would be sweet Very Happy ))

I did not take the time to check back, but thought, as I wrote this, that you had said Lady Nyx was involved in its destruction. I was giving her a motive to want to master the Well's powers, then to be caught in its catastrophic destruction, becoming/transitioning into whatever her current status is.nnSomeone of power, as yet not revealed, does not want Onyxia and Kael to be wed. This person (group, cartel, faction) has the means (direct or through proxy) to have Kael sent to a desolate location, with a mission likely to result in his death. He fears Onyxia will be tempted to dominate the Well's powers to change his, and therefor their, fates. He emplores her not to do so, fearing disaster.nnAs with most letters, out of our context, but not out of theirs, questions are raised that RP can speculate upon, or not. I meant to introduce motivation to do more than draw on the Well; to actually dominate it, with disasterous result. Mayhap she would even attampt to reverse time itself (and maybe succeed) to save Kael. Mayhap she gets his letter at the same time as news of his death, both arriving with the same post.nnI also wanted to give her an endearing nickname, Ony. Clearly, Kael knows her birth name. Also, I chose Kael as his name, because it gives us the opportunity for him to be revealed as Prince Kael'thas Sunstrider, who comes to lead the Blood Elves following the Sundering of the Sunwell. He is at Dalaran when the invasion occurs, and is dispatched to fight, not likely to survive (but in Lore the King dies, not the prince) and Onyxia's intervention may save him, even win the day, but cost her her mortal existence.nnAs to location of this effort, we can choose from Arathor, Quel'Talas or even Dalaran, if I read the Lore correctly, but Quel"Thalas would fit these suggestions best. Lady Nyx may have had an estate nearby, or rooms in a city, or even both (a family estate and rooms in the city).nnSo, Kael fears death in upcoming battle, but even more fears Ony's attempt to intervene. He dies in battle and news of such reaches her at the same time as his letter. Driven by grief and sorrow, she tries to dominate the Sunwell to reverse time, and succeeds, permitting Kael's troops to triumph, him to lead their people, but her to perish. Effectively, we find that Ony changed time itself. It is her loss of mortality, of life blood, that internally motivates Kael to rename the surviving Highborn as Bloodelves. Lore may record it as because of the death of many, but is was her death, the stilling of her blood, that was the true reason.nnEyesore

It still leaves her entire childhood, magical studies, interests, romance with Kael, current status, etc. for additional effort. The time of the sundering would be my focus.nnIncidently, the Master that is having Shade observe Onyxia is none other than the King himself, who fears her interest in his son, Prince Kael. He may come to think otherwise as time passes, but interests at court, seeing the depth of the relationship, may prefer the Prince's death than an alliance of the two houses. Instead, it is the King that dies in the invasion, and Onyxia's family throws its support to the grieving Prince. We have consistency with Lore, but reasons behind what happens, and an awesome role for Our Lady Nyx in the events. It occurs to me, that the dragon Onyxia may be involved in Lady Nyx surviving the Sunwell's destruction, though not in corporeal form.
