Victory in Operation: Wing Clip

Postby Leothiel » Thu Sep 03, 2009 12:17 pm

*From the journal of Leothiel Frosthawk, Ambassador of War*

We have been in direct confrontations with the Kingship of the East and have lost dearly because of it.

Image

Since then we have ignored their taunts and bivouacs in the Stonetalon Mountains. We do not have the personnel or the resources to confront the Kingship head-on and I will not see us defeated or demoralized again. Tsaphaan has been relaying some of his own stories to me in his small skirmishes. He told me of how he kept Hinik's wife and his "harem" sapped. He also told me of the times where he snuck behind their lines during their bivouacs and killed the flight master. Those stories gave me two ideas: One was to keep Hinik alive but not his bodyguards. The other was to disable nearby flight masters and attack a town to draw them out and force them to go overland while we left as they were arriving.

The second idea became the thesis of what would become Operation: Wing Clip. I spent some time gathering information on Alliance flight patterns and memorized them. It was a very broad plan but it was one that could be readily adapted. I talked with Nightwarder Asarelah about my plan. We set a date and hour of assembly and extended the invitation to other Horde orders as well as a Nyx aspirant. Our spies also kept tabs on Kingship movements.

Assembly began at the eighth hour after noon in the Valley of Spirits in Orgrimmar. The number of stealthers was low but we had enough to stop all flights within an area while we sacked towns and settlements. Our spies reported members of the Kingship gathering in their Eastern Kingdom headquarters of Menethil Harbor. I opened a portal to Undercity and with the exception of our stealthers, had everyone stay until we summoned in the rest of our contingent. Our stealthers were deployed first with locking down flight paths in Menethil Harbor, Refuge Pointe, and Thelsamar. The fourth sealther stayed with us for our first target.

Afterwards, I ordered us to Tarren Mill for our main staging ground.

When the stealthers outside of Hillsbrad were in place, I would move us close to Southshore and order the attack. Four flight masters were down immediately. Some Kingship members headed outside of their keep to see about the alarm bells only to find a dead flight master. My main contingent burned Southshore to the ground, eradicating Stormwind influence from Hillsbrad.

Our next stop was Refuge Pointe. All we had to do was "finish the job" of cutting off resources to the Alliance from Arathi Basin. Afterwards, it was off to Thelsamar, which was a reinforcement point for the Badlands. That quickly became a Horde town.

Spies were telling us that Kingship were starting to scatter from Menethil. It was time for us to strike. With my Slow Fall, we "jumped" into the Wetlands. I had the stealthers north of Thandol Span withdraw and join us: We were going to take the Kingship's banquet hall and portal out. We gave Kingship time to respond but they could not rescue their keep fast enough. In the end, I was laughing as I stepped back to Orgrimmar.

We went from being taunted to wearing them down. I will want to see more of this.

On the evening of 2nd September, 2009, Ambassador Leothiel Frosthawk once again led the Horde Assembly on a foray across the Eastern Kingdoms that was nothing short of brilliant.

After massing the Assembly in Orgrimmar, he then ordered and sent out the stealthers present to take up positions at strategic Alliance Flight Masters. Once he had those valiant few in place, he ordered the rest of the Assembly to Tarren Mill in Arathi Highlands.

With firm orders to neither kill any Alliance that the Raid passed, nor give chase no matter what the provocation, Frosthawk led the war band to Southshore. Giving the order for the Flight Masters to be taken down simultaneously by those stealthers that were in position, and awaiting confirmation that Eastern Kingdom's Alliance flight paths were in deed compromised, he then gave the order for the war band to burn Southshore to the ground.

Image

Following the razing of Southshore in Hillsbrad Foothills, the Ambassador then led the war band cross country and razed Refuge Point in Arathi Highlands.

Image

As soon as the last Refuge defender had fallen, the Raid then proceeded across the Wetlands in to Loch Modan to lay siege to Thelsamar.

After leaving Thelsamar in a burning heap, Frosthawk once again led the war party back through the Wetlands, to lay claim to the Kingship Headquarters located in the Alliance city of Menethil Harbor.

Image

Kingship of the East promptly responded to the war cry, and tried to defend their territory. The battle raged for at time, inside the Alliance fort. But the Assembly maintained order, and few deaths were reported.

Finally, brave Leothiel gave the order to withdraw, and throwing up a portal, bid everyone return to Orgrimmar, for victory celebration and dancing in the streets.

Her heart torn in conflict, the last thing this Priestess saw, as she stepped down from the King's desktop, a position she had taken beside Partedhair to heal the fighters, was Justicar Heimdel coming toward her..... his mace in hand.

*Airrik Starsong rested his blade against a bench just outside Silvermoon city, and the slowly began to take off his chest armor. Grimacing in the soreness of battle, smiling slighty, and then, even laughing a bit out loud, though no one was around. Resting his heavy armor on the nearby bench, he picked up his sword, and looked at the dried blood on it, before holding it over a small campfire behind him. Rather quickly, the blood began to get wet again, and fall off the blade and into the burning embers, before Airrik placed it back into it's sheath.*

*A small Blood Elf child hides behind a bush nearby, and sneezes, as Airrik turns toward him*

Airrik: "I see you there, young one. Mind you, the bushes are only good for concealment, not for cover. You should know this, should the Alliance war continue as you grow older."

Child: "You... Fight in the war? Against real Alliance?"

Airrik: "Indeed"

Child: "That's great mister!" *Stepping from the bushes, bows before Airrik*

*Airrik walks over*

Airrik: "Stop that this minute, and rise child."

*Rises*

Airrik: "I'm not one to bow before. I didn't ask for this war... I was just one they pushed too far. You owe me nothing other than the mutual respect that comes with our kind."

*Airrik reached his hand outward, and shook hands with the young elf, before placing his armor on the back of his white skeletal warhorse and leading it slowly into Silvermoon. The child however, had one more question as Airrik walked away."

Child: "Mister! Um.... Did you fight tonight? I thought I saw blood on your sword."

*Airrik paused ever so slighty, and looks over his shoulder with his response.*

Airrik: "Tonight, we did more than fight... We found victory over an entire continent."

Journal Entry of Oneille Brightgrove:

"Magic against steel, steel pushed through flesh, and bodies made cold through the waning of weapons. This is war and it is real. There comes little time when man and woman dare question orders from their superior, instead each falls in line and marches out. Reality is a dark secret. Deep within the ranks of Nyx you'll uncover an even darker secret: these men and women fight to preserve the Horde, they will never falter, they will never fall, and if death should take them...then...Lok'tar Ogar!

I've rested my weary bones and examined the handy work of Alliance guards. Goddess how my skin is marked in coils of blood, the welts have turned bruises! Hyah! These pains in my ribs cease but I can tell soon there will another war...and the many Alliance guilds of this world will be there in full force. It's not the battle that concerns me it's a someone.

My heart, my life's light, my lord...my Leothiel. Since having become his consort and lady I want nothing more than to save him, protect him, and champion him. His struggles are my own. We feel each other even when worlds away. He takes me from city to city...I transport him from across the nether. No one knows this feeling but me...no one! In a secret place I keep the love we share alive and burning.

Through Operation Wing Clip's success we've made motions to continue this practice. I want to see my Leothiel succeed. My lord your consort wants to see these campaigns thrive. What about you makes me attracted to you? Well good sir your military ability is beyond compare and that leadership makes you more the lion than any leoine crest the Alliance waves about. We've accomplished much beloved. This night I rest well knowing you're guiding Nyx to it's proper victory over the bloody Alliance. I hope soon we can share more than victories but that is a wish for another time."
"We live in dark times with dark wonders. Makes me glad I am a warlock." - Lady Oneille Frosthawk, Mother of the Lion's Pride, Mate to the White Lion.

Asarelah whistled down Strazsa to carry her message as she blew the ink dry on the dispatch she had just penned to Ambassador Frosthawk. Glancing once last time to make sure her intent was clear, she read:

Leothiel,

I wish to formally congratulate you on a brilliant campaign, but I have dire news. You have once again hit the hornet's nest straight on with a scythe, and the Kingship has broiled forth in angry rage.

What we did not know when we took Menethil Keep, is that the King's very childred had just been moved there, for safe keeping. They were asleep in the Nursery as we ransaked the King's room.

Regardless, your handling of our troups on the operation was most excellent, and you deserve our deepest respect and admiration.

Well done, Ambassador of War. Very well done, indeed.

On a side note, my Daughter falls more and more deeply under your thrall. While I support her choices of the heart, I have just one thing to say to you...

Her Heart, Your Legs, Leo. Make sure her's does not break, and neither shall yours.

You have my,
very best regards
