An Accord with the Alliance??

Postby Filarius » Fri Oct 02, 2009 2:52 pm

It seems that the Alliance has not been taking care of their gnomish exiles and they have received more assistance from members of the Horde. I have noticed more and more gnomes showing up in neutral territory who are friendly to the Horde. Several gnomish magic users have approached me and they belong to some of the guilds who have been resisting Kingship of the East's attempts to absorb them. They do not wish to be swallowed up by what they consider to be a puppet king who wants to run his own little army of fanatic thralls.

They are interested in joining forces with some of the other Alliance guilds who reject Kingship's interference in their business and perhaps working on a truce with the Horde as they consider us to be not as bad as Kingship is portraying. I think we should do further investigation to determine thier true intentions but it's nice to see some of the Alliance can see things for what they really are.

Whether or not they truely intend to form a united front and push Kingship out or if they are capable of doing so I am not sure but since I know at least one of them rather well from adventures elsewhere I at least consider him trustworthy and so I am cautiously optimistic they are serious about truce and pulling together other Alliance guilds to essentially make Kingship "Persona Non Grata".

One of the suggestions was the "Truce" as it were would involve an accord in which guilds on both sides would agree that they would cease any hostilities while in the world at large with any guild that has signed the accord so the members would not need to fear each other out in the dangerous wilds. The only exceptions being what they called "A Healthy Crossing of Swords" in areas such as Wintergrasp and the various battlegrounds where the Horde and Alliance face off in honorable formal combat.

I have spoken to close friend of mine at Wyrmrest and he feels that their interest is quite genuine but I shall defer to the judgement of the Oracles in this matter. I suggest we discuss this at length and decide how we want to respond to them.

Truce or no truce, Nyx is interested in diplomatic relationships with Alliance guilds. Although we are at odds with each other in battle, we do have areas of common concern. We are interested in hearing the terms of their proposal in more detail. There is never harm in getting all the facts, and listening is not the same as commitment to agree or disagree with anything said.

One of our first considerations has to be our Ward of War. They have been our vanguard in our dealings the hostile members of the Alliance. Their general mode of operation is to attack and ask questions later. I am not sure Nyx can guarantee that they will check what standard an individual bears on their tabard before attacking.

I cannot guarantee the safety of Alliance with whom we cut deals. Communications will be essential for that. My personal stand in this matter is "The enemy of my enemy is a temporary friend." If you are going to pursue diplomacy, keep us posted with whom.

Cease any hostilities in the world at large would be going too far, I think. Having said that, assurances that we won't engage in disrespectful behaviour to the fallen (ie. no camping, spitting, etc), and agreements for non-interference with RP events that we've received prior notification for (and which have received the approval of the assembly, if they want to do it in Horde territory), would both be reasonable and acceptable IMO.

What ever decision is made, I shall do my best to support it.
