Nyx Gazette - Editorial - The Least Dangerous Game

Postby Yaengohl » Mon Feb 11, 2008 8:44 pm

Whilst in the Library in Silvermoon City, I was perusing some of the ancient human texts that we have from before the Sundering. In this one folio, there is a tale of a man who lives on an island. He invites adventurers from all over the world, learns there stories, and then tells them to run.

As a hunter of the wilds, he had hunted all manner of beast and monster. The only thing that gave him the thrill of the hunt was to bear down on another sentient.

You may be wondering why I go over this tale of human depravity. The answer, I hope to illustrate, lies within the dark heart of the Lunar Festival.

I was taken in by this yearly celebration of the past, the place from which we all derive. I had many conversations with elder spirits. Perhaps my suspicions should have been aroused at not seeing any of the Sin'dorei amongst their numbers.

In Thunder Bluff, a druid gave me an invitation to attend the festivities in Moonglade. Gladly, and foolishly, I went.

Don't get me wrong, Moonglade is a beautiful place. However, this rose of the Cenarion Circle comes loaded with thorns. After gathering what information I could, I learned that in the village of Nighthaven, there was one that trade my coins for unusual items. Things that are normally not found in my daily travels. I sped hastily into town to get my opportunity. That's when things went horribly wrong.

Only too late did I notice the pile of Tauren, Troll, Orc, Undead, and Sin'dorei corpses. A blazing flash of light enveloped me. My skin burned and blistered. If this was not discomfort enough, insects began to sting and bite at me. I fumbled for my flash powder and dove for the waters of Lake Elune'ara.

From my vantage point, I watched as two druids systematically tear apart and burn the poorest, youngest souls trying to speak to the coin collector. As I watched, I waited for the Cenarion guards to snap into action, but they just stood there. One even yawned as she rested on her axe. A confused warlock was taken down by the guards as his void walker attempted to retaliate against the destructive duo.

As the man in the story, are the druids summoning their own game? Instead of seeking the greatest challenges, are the instead seeking the least dangerous game?

The druiding community has a bit to answer for.

((Inspite of any yammering I made to the contrary on /g chat; I did not, nor do I plan, a druid killing spree. I stealthed and slunk off to Orgrimmar.

This is something I've hated about Moonglade since my first druid character. I wish that there was some way to really enforce the RP of the area. That ticks me off. They need to raise the guards to level 70, and add a debuff for fighting there.

I really hate that rezzing someone is an aggressive action.

It doesn't help that I wasn't in the best of moods to begin with. The druids in question: Spatien and Nyctre, both of <No Mercy Mafia> or whatever they call themselves.

Consider the debate open...to kill or not to kill in Nighthaven.))

Yaen'gohl,

How many times have I told you never walk amongst the Alliance without your xinthlute? Really. Music does sooth the feral best. Use your gifts, get back there, and cause real havoc. Steal their wine and acquaint yourself with their women. Well, the acquainting may be a bit difficult. Stick with the reallocation of their comestibles.
