Asarelah, what brings you here ?

Grand Matriarch Iannina Trueheart gazed out the window, finding no joy in her elaborate and carefully tended gardens that rambled all along the cliff face which overlooked the Cleric Guild of North Felwithe. Nina felt blessed to still live in one of the grandest cities on all of Norrath surrounded by such lovliness; the High Elves having created a city of pure alabaster beauty rising from the mist of Greater Faydark.

Vexed with the hastily scribbled note she had just received from her errant granddaughter - echoes of the child’s footsteps pounded in a rush down the long hallways of the old matron’s memory - Nina tried to recall a happier time, when she was one with her own true love, Dragos. But he too was gone, and had been for what seemed an eternity.

A single tear trickled down the old woman’s cheek. Annoyed that the child’s note could bring back such painful memories, Nina dashed the tear away, and tried to find some light, shining through all the darkness that seemed to shrowd the House of Trueheart in such lonliness these past many years. How had it all come to this?

Her only daughter, Asarelah (named after Dragos’ own mother), had turned her back on the name of Trueheart, rich in heritage and tradition, along with all their old-world wealth, by taking up with that… that… Human - of all unimaginable things - and then jumped world to colonize a new planet… Azeroth….

The Human kingdom of Stormwind held no fascination for Iannina, and she had flatly refused to ever visit there, in spite of all the marvels her daughter kept writing of. Then the child had come… A girl child… also named Asarelah (but fondly called Lah)… her daughter’s attempt at trying to mend the bridges destroyed by years of living off planet. Dragos had insisted that the child be raised by his own hand, and sent his best men to bring the granddaughter back to Norrath… back to the land of their forefathers... back to the Trueheart mansion in Felwithe.

But now her granddaughter, forsaking not only her grandmother, but her own mother as well, had turned her back on what tattered remnants of the Trueheart dynasty still remained, and had pledged her soul to serve the Horde, and a dark mistress - Lady Nyx.

" Grandmier, I am leaving. The High Elves won't have me, and I am done with the Humans. But I have found acceptance with the Sin'dorei in a city called Silvermoon, in the land of Azeroth - and a Tribe that would gladly call me their own, half blood that I am. Lady Nyx has sent her best men at arms to offer me safe escort. And I go, with high hopes that someday I to might stand as a much respected Matriarch of the Trueheart lineage. I love you Grandmier. But these old halls are just too lonely."

The scrawled signature at the bottom left no doubt that her granddaughter had indeed fled, for better parts unknown, at least in her own mind. These Nyxians might claim to welcome Lah, but Iannina had grave misgivings about her only grandchild's fate.

Nina sobbed openly as she crushed the note in her delicate fist, and tears ran unchecked down her quivering chin.

Leikos Darkwood vanishes from Emerald Dream
30 August, 2009

Asarelah turned a keen eye on her Oracle, making sure that the guard’s order to follow was Tallbear’s desire. Respectfully, Asarelah kept pace with Aitana, as the Oracle gave a nod of compliance and stepped forward under the guard’s direction.

While no formal words of forgiveness had been spoken by Tallbear, Lah could sense that the wall between them had dropped somewhat and that the lines of communication, if not completely open, were not slammed shut as they had been for weeks gone past.

With much of that load of sadness lifted from her, she walked calmly one pace behind Aitana, and was stunned to see whom the guards conducted them toward. In the clearing ahead stood none other than the Warrior Commander that she had so admired for long and long... Commander Leikos Darkwood of Al’shar lo Dor’ano.
Image

Astonished at the proximity to one that she held in such high regard, and admired far beyond that of a Nyxian Officer and Diplomat’s appreciation of a brilliant strategist and battle master - and him facing the Oracle, his speech being translated - she was no less chagrinned when the Nyxian Rogue Tsaphaan appeared behind her, along with Huntress Cobriana of Assault on the Alliance. Not long after, the Lord Vindicator Jeriden Dawnbringer of Hands of the Phoenix strode up to the gathering. And finally her shock was complete when the Justicar Heimdel, of Kingship of the East, took a position at her side.... How they all knew to appear here, and at this time, were beyond her, and she did not ask.
Image

She sent a guarded whisper to Aitana, using her hearthstone. “Thank the Gods Howling is not awake… He would slay us all, just for me being here among these particular men.... and me first!!” At which Aitana could only send back a silent agreement that the bull would indeed react and most violently. But Lah could see that the Oracle’s shoulders no longer held any sign of tension, and she could tell that the whisper had indeed made Aitana more light hearted than she had been.

In her bemused state, surrounded as she was by men that she held in high regard, and doing her best to prevent any fighting between any of them, Asarelah was not able to follow much of the conversation.
Image

Image

She did catch sight of Blood Runes coming momentarily alive and dancing on her garments, and looked up in time to see them skittle across Aitana’s tabbard also, as Leikos held forth the Dagger that was used in the attempt on Aitana’s life some time back. But then Darkwood put hand to an amulet of some sort, and the brilliant lightening display quieted down.

Then she heard the announcement by Darkwood that he was leaving… going in to the Dream… and not likely to return.

“Leikos, you are leaving? Noooooo…. !!!” Asarelah wailed, and heard very little more of anything else that was said.

She stood by silently, tears rolling down her face, and did her best to memorize every crag, worry line, and battle scar upon the old Warrior’s face; a face that she had come to not only respect and admire, but hold very dear. While nothing of a personal nature had ever passed between them, the possibilities had been there, and the knowledge that now they could never be acted upon, ever, all but dropped her to her knees.
Image

And then he was gone. Walked away, and vanished. No trace of him could she feel within her hearthstone. A dirge shrilled past her lips, the wail making all around her wince, and she collapsed where she stood, as the last traces that whispered of Leikos Darkwood vanished from her mind - just as the last wisps of smoke from a dying ember float away on the still night air.

Time had no meaning, and was lost to her in her sorrow. Through a buzzing, ringing in her ears, she vaguely heard Tsaphaan and Heimdel fighting nearby. And she heard Dawnbringer tell the Oracle that the Nightwarder would need rest and quiet to recover from this loss. Asarelah felt his arms go gently under her as he lifted and carried her, at Aitana’s bidding, to rest in the nearby Inn.

She could feel Aitana and Jeriden standing watch over her, while she fought to gain control of the sobs wracking her slight frame, trying by force of will to drag her mind back to the here and now. She distantly heard the Oracle tell Dawnbringer that she would not be left alone until she had recovered her wits; along with Aitana's sharp command that, save the Oracle, no one was to touch her - and most especially not any of the men that were present.

Dawnbringer quietly voiced his agreement and stood guard with the Oracle, watching over the grief stricken Lady whom he had chosen to champion, even though she walked alone, and was bound to no man.

As time and events passed on throughout Howling stirred, attempting to wake from the cursed prison. This Nightmare spell of sleep. As of late Nastiarh could feel his spell weakening. This spell from ancient magics long lost always kept his family sleeping when he desired. This is the ending, and at this very moment, Silmeria the awakened sister had dropped to her knee's, feeling her head throb in pain.

"Take her to our place." Nastrik's voice echo'd inside Silmeria's head.

"Nastrik!? Where are you?!" She looked all around the inn, a few Dalaran mages looking at her oddly as she held her head, rising slowly to her feet, instantly feeling the urge to do as Nastriks words had echo'd in her mind.

"Take her with you."
"Please sister.."
"Hurry!"

Silmeria heard the voices of her family members, Father..Howling..Nastrik. Each one hurt her mind, nearly unbearable pain, it reminded her of the whispers from C'thun. being near the old god had caused her great pain as he whispered into her mind madness and suffering.

"I'm GOING STOP DOING THAT!" she said out loud uncaring that none of them were in plain sight, she assumed they were near her fathers scrying crystal. First she had to find her.

After exiting the inn Silmeria saw her, standing at the mailbox as always, of couse they did not say how to bring her there. Smiling somewhat through the pain Silmeria had drove up and parked her bike beside the blood elf, opening the sidecar and moving to her front, grabbing both her arms and shoving her into the tiny seat.

"H..HEY!! Sil..OoFF!" the elf commonly called Lah blurted out as Silmeria took off for the Undercity portal. As they rushed through it Lah cut off at something about a battlemaster being angry. Upon exiting the other side Silmeria shot Asarelah a dirty and stern look.

"Oh yea? You want your Beloved "Battlemaster" to save you? What a sad excuse for a woman! Hah!" Silmeria taunted the female.

"He is not my Beloved! He never touched me!" Lah snapped back at her.
Image
Silmeria laughed almost sinisterly, with a slight echo of a Deathknight, as they rode into the Eastern Plaguelands, only stopping at the front of DarrowShire a brief moment.

"Why did we stop?" Lah asked with a confused look.
Image
Silmeria smiled and stared at the entrance to the family crypt, she could see it, but not sense any of her family near it at all.

Silmeria dispacted the vehicle and led Lah over to the front of the cave. The illusionary wall dispelling as she approached it.

"Now what..." She thought, "I know you wanted me to come here, why? Why are none of you here?"

"Well? Now what?" Asarelah asked impatiently, unruffling her gown as she stood there, her eyes widening as she noticed Silmeria in front of her, grasping her head, as if trying to smash her skull with her own hands.

"Silmeria? Whats wrong?!" She asked in horror as she saw Silmeria start coughing up blood as she held her head.

Inside Silmeria's head she heard the voices again, each echo becoming more and more painful as they spoke.

"Your turn is over Daughter.."

"st..op.."

"Suimin..I'll always be here for you, Howling its time to wake up!"

"STOP IT!"

Asarelah watched vividly as Silmeria's form started to shimmer, her aura becoming visible a bright Warm Pink, violently changing to an Earthly Orange, to a Horrible Purple, and finally to a Cold Blue. The Orange she had seen before, it was the shape of a tauren, with lightning wrapped about him, the purple never seen before it gave her horrible chill of death. Blue.. was a familiar color, warm but stern, it was another tauren.. Howling.

Silmeria struggled with herself and the flux'ing aura's about her own body grinding her teeth in pain, Howling's aura outlining her body.

"Lah..Come, sleep..." Howlings voice echo'd , the phantasm aura reaching out to her.
Image
Lah winced, wanting to go but afraid at the same time. Silmeria digging her nails into her face, causing wounds to spring up over her cheeks, blood running down her neck. Inside her mind the struggle was already happening. Howling was trying to take control.

Stop it Brother! You wanted to sleep!! You have nothing left here!" with that statement Silmeria stopped all tourturous activites, feeling the pain slip away, realizing Lah was here. She was wrong.

At that moment Silmeria's frame was engulfed in a black and red mana, flowing outward, fogging the area around the two elves.

A coughing hack came from the darkness, Lah could here what sounded like a Lich of those in Naxxaramas.

"Apologies, you must be Asarelah.." a forsaken stepped close to Lah, inspecting her from head to toe.

"Wh..Who are you? Where is Silmeria? Was that Howling?!" Lah stammered, pulling away slowly in her confused state.

"Howling, Silmeria, Nastrik. They are all right here." the forsaken touched his chest. Watching the elf's eyes widen in fear.

"That doesn't make sense... Explain yourself!" Lah snapped at him.

Nastiarh smiled and as he explained himself a warlock, inside his mind's eye he could watch his proverbaly children sleeping inside thier respective soul shards. Sleeping.

"Ever since I had fought and killed people, monsters, for the shards necessary for casting my demonic spells I would occasionally come across some that were indeed to strong to use for normal use. Silmeria, I found her an orphan of 120 and when I was to put her down for being such her spirit was so great that it overtook my body for a moment or two. Ever since then I have decided to sleep, and let these beings be in control. Each walking their own path.. Even now I can hear them.." the warlock pointed to his head, tapping it with a talon.

"Whoever is in control, they will take this body, and with their immense spiritual power form it to who they were before they died." He explained with a sigh.

"Will you let Howling out please.." Asarelah asked softly.

The forsaken smirked and nodded, "That was my plan.. He has been calling for you quite fervently lately, even when I first started to sleep I called for you..."

Lah saw Howlings form overtake the undead's, and smiled as his body took its place, opening his eyes and reaching for her, smiling himself as he noticed his ring hanging from a chain on her neck. Sweeping her up in his arms he took a step towards the cave, to sleep with his mate.

Copied for Open RP at:nviewtopic.php?f=13&t=4458nAsarelahnPost subject: The passage of time.... (( Open RP ))nPosted: Tue Mar 16, 2010 9:41 am
nnAsarelah sat on the bank of the small lake, at the base of the Horde guard station in Wintergrasp, watching her bobber and awaiting the next bite. While the snow was still inches deep, she did not feel the cold, for the cold in her heart was too overwhelming.nnSo many things had passed since the heat of last summer… Many beloved faces had passed away to dust and only cherished memories, so much so that she had buried herself in her work. But it was time to stop the wool gathering, and get on with living. Long past time.nnChampions had stepped forward, to carry the Horde banner in her name…. Silmeria, Thulcondar, Galeandra…. But no man had stepped forward to claim her heart, and call her his own, and at times the sadness was overwhelming.nnHowling, oh why did he sleep so…. even though she knew he could never be faithful to any woman, she loved him still and always would, in spite of his weaknesses and flaws. The loss of Darkwood had nearly shattered her, even though not the slightest touch had ever passed between them. Likewise, Dawnbringer might have won her heart, as he had taken her hand, had he pressed his suit. Even the Battlemaster might have been a large part of her life, had he the chance. And Asarel, oh heaven help her if she even for an instant thought of him, and the far far distant past.nnGone. They were all gone. And she was alone with only her memories.nn“Time for a change. Yes, well past time,” she muttered to herself and stood up, grabbing what she had caught, packing her fishing pole, along with the day’s catch, in to her satchel. “This will NOT do!!”nnThen she heard the sounds of a scuffle, moving closer, and voices raised in battle fury.nn“What mischief is afoot??!!” she continued muttering, and quickly pulled her combat gear out of it’s bag, slamming her hands in to her fighting gloves and quickly synching the rest of her regalia in to place. “We shall just see, shall we?”nnCasting what protections she could about herself, she rapidly strode forward toward the cries of battle. Not far past where the guards stood, loafing at their ease, and completely oblivious to what was occurring nearly under their noses, she spied a plate covered back, fighting for his life, with two foes upon him, and roaring his challenges back at them as he valiantly strove to survive, trying in vain to move the battle closer to the guards.nnAttuning herself to the Knight, that was hard pressed to answer the challenges of the two he faced, she cast strong shields upon him and sent him a whisper that she was prepared to answer the challengers he faced, and give them back as good as they were giving… and to press forward.nnAnd he did…..nnOne foe dropped nearly at once as the refreshed Knight renewed his valiant attacks, pressing hard. That miscreant pulled back his blade to turn and run in terror, due to the powerful protective aura that had appeared about the Knight, whose wounds had all suddenly disappeared as his health was restored and his stamina snapped back to full, at the hands of Lah’s tender mercies.nnThe other alliance dog also tried to flee, but was dropped as he ran, from the Knight’s powerful blows, along with the shadow magics the priestess had afflicted the would-be murdering scum with, just after she had seen to the well being of the Knight.nnEven with his back to her, Asarelah could tell that though his health had been restored, and he had been made whole, that he was nearly done in. “You have my thanks, and your timing was just short of miraculous,” he said, bone weary as he wiped the blood and gore from his blade, sheathing it. “Now then…. Who might you be?”nnAs he turned to face her, she watched while his face changed. His eyes caught fire, and then a smile came dancing across his lips, as he uttered one small word, with a sigh….nn“Lah….”
