Re: RP apprenticeship idea
You are indeed correct, UCA Locomono. First thing is first, NIghtwarders of Lore are needed... until then, there is nothing wrong with looking for a protege and starting an informal sort of training, if you will.

Re: RP apprenticeship idea
nnWhat if I were to draw up an application? I'm not sure if we can start this on our own or not, but it's such a good idea, it shouldn't go to waste.until then, there is nothing wrong with looking for a protege and starting an informal sort of training, if you will.

Re: RP apprenticeship idea
I'd be more than willing to try and create a complete charter encompassing most aspects of the idea and outlining rules and expectations, we can add and edit as we go along.

Re: RP apprenticeship idea
A draft of expectations from apprentices and volunteers, this is available for editing for whoever has something to add, there are tons of bits missing that need to be speculated on, and tons of polishing and sectioning.nDrafting volunteers, number of apprentices per mentor, etc. feel free to add and edit. nnWhen becoming part of a apprentice and mentor relationship, expect to give as well as recieve. Expect the bond to go further than just learning the ropes, and into affecting RP. It should be more than just giving out some gold or dungeon runs, it should be helping to create a story for a person new to WoW, as well as learning more about RP.nn When becoming a mentor, be able to tolerate questions, and be an overall helpful person. Simply powerleveling a new character is not the purpose of an apprenticeship, be helpful where you can to help the apprentice reach 80, but also try and enrich their roleplaying. When you sign up to be a mentor, you will not be forced to take a certain apprentice you might not like, though the reason for not taking a certain apprentice MUST be an in character reason, unless an out of character reason seems well justified enough.n Teach your apprentice more than just about the game, teach them about the world, take them to new places, help them meet new people, show them different aspects of WoW. n It is acceptable to be strict, from an RP standpoint, with an apprentice, but not to the point where it makes RP very strained. The point is to help them have fun with RPing, not estrange them from it. (I.E. Your apprentice makes a mistake you do not approve of, scowling at them and telling them they're wrong and correcting them is acceptable. Calling them worthless scumbags who can never do anything right is not.) nn When becoming apprentice, you should generally be new to the game, new to roleplay, or both. If you already have several 80s already in Nyx, chances are you won't be allowed to choose a mentor. Try and choose a mentor that fits your style of character (I.E. if you're a young shaman, a shaman, druid, or troll priest might be a better mentor for you, if only for RP reasons. If you're a druid, you probably won't want to stick with the mentally disturbed forsaken warlock.) On an RP level, some level of respect will be expected from your mentor. It doesn't mean you have to get on your knees and kiss your mentor's feet, if you're the sarcastic type you still probably shouldn't call your mentor a "Big fat smelly cheese goblin".n While your mentor should and is expected to support you, don't constantly beg for gold and dungeon runs, and don't be completely dependant on them. The occasional "I need gold for a mount/repairs" is perfectly acceptable, but asking for five thousand gold for epic flying will most likely be spurned.n Be able to listen to your mentor, they're there to help you, not boss you around. If your mentor has harrassed, or in some way wronged you, inform a Nyx official immediately.

Re: RP apprenticeship idea
nIt is definitely not ended. My prime focus right now is to make sure the Pirate's Ball happens. I do want help with that too. After that, I want to see if we can have a meeting of the Ward of Lore to work on this an other issues that affect the Ward. I very please to see our membership come up with ideas and then take steps to implement them. This is the our guild, not just the guild leaders guild.Darkclouded wrote:((not to be negative at all, but since there haven't been many updates on the status of this does that mean it has been ended? do we just not have enough people replying on the Ward of lore discussion topic?))

((Huh.... other than a few points in what you said that kind of sums up my thoughts on a charter for the idea greth.))

Re: RP apprenticeship idea
((However. the point of the level of apprentice characters and how long they have been in guild is slightly questionable. There are people in every RP guild who, while able to make it through an event by trying hard enough, will still need help to survive in points where RP picks up. Not everyone has a huge detailed backstory for the guild website or a set personality for their characters. And alot of what I hoped to see when I thought of this is for people, regardless of level or class, to be able to see someone willing to help and think "hey, that guy sounds like they're doing things I want to do, I should see if they can be my mentor".))nn((Going further from this I would suggest that mentors be able to set aside some time from whatever it is they are doing so they can interact with whatever apprentices they have, even if he apprentice is unable to directly reach them, IE: level 25 apprentice who has a mentor in icecrown doing the argent tournament quests.))

I agree with all of it.n nTeach your apprentice more than just about the game, teach them about the world, take them to new places, help them meet new people, show them different aspects of WoW. nDefinitely. nnI think we are all on the same page here. I'm going to make up some draft applications in the morning. I will do my best to incorporate everything that has been covered in this thread, but of course I will miss some stuff.
