Re: RP apprenticeship idea
I joined the Azerothian Dreamers on Thanoss when he was level 6. I leveled up at what I'd consider a normal rate for awhile, but I actually found myself avoiding RP situations. Looking back I know why: I was trying to play a character who felt superior to others, yet was often many levels below everyone. It felt like there was no point to RP when I looked unseasoned. Then when I hit 56 the Dreamers had a meeting, and I was promoted to a position that was essentially the person in charge of dark RP plots, a role so fitting for Thanoss that RPing with him became a must. I was 61 by the next day.nnThis is an example of how helping people with RP can often be mistaken as a G&N kind of thing. Just because someone is below 60, everyone assumes they're meant to be someone young or inexperienced in character, and this isn't always the case. In my mind, Thanoss was supposed to be some great and powerful warlock at level 6. To everyone else "he had a lot to learn", until he hit 80, at which point *surprise* he acted the exact same, just taken more seriously by everyone else.nnKnow what I want to see? I want to see someone become amazing at RP, roll a level 1 character, create an awesome backstory, and RP Thanoss to his knees without so much as gaining a level (and believe me, I HATE making Thanoss submissive, but I'll do it when it's earned). I defy anyone who says it can't be done.

Re: RP apprenticeship idea
That's part of what I'm saying. Guess I didn't make my point very well...nnClear cut, I think many people are intimidated by RPing solely because of their level, and they feel it's a reflection on their experience and, thus, their ability to RP or capacity to be respected on an in-character basis. What I'm trying to say is, I think it's important for people of all experience levels to realize this shouldn't ever be the case; a person's level and ability to RP should be two completely different things, and one should never have to denote the other.nnThat last part was merely stating that an amazing roleplayer CAN get the same respect and attention as everyone else no matter what level they are.

((sorry for the confusion was paraphrasing something from what grethem said that I didn't agree with earlier in the topic.))

Ah, ok. I understand now. And I agree with you. nIs it true that you can pay someone (NPC) to stop leveling? If that's true, that opens up a whole new world of possibilities. nIf we can agree on these applications and get them finalized, i think they should be stickies. When this happens, I would be more than happy to go through the applications and setup a fair. Please let me know.

You mean Slahtz, he can turn on/off experience gain for 10 gold. An interesting thought, there may be some people who already have a level 80 and choose to have an alt stay a certain level for RP purposes... however it places you at a disadvantage in many other areas.

Re: RP apprenticeship idea
I had an idea with the experience toggle. nI'll just say it simply:n I wouldn't mind having alts stuck at lvl 20, 30, 40, & 60 (as a mentor). This would allow a few things in the mentor/apprentice relationship:n1. The mentor could dungeon and do battlegrounds with the apprentice.n2. World exploration would be much more exciting, and scary, being that there actually is a threat of death.n3. And whatever else you guys think of.nnThere are many more possibilities with this experience toggle, but they are off-topic and belong in other threads.

Re: RP apprenticeship idea
((2 points here. The first being that as I understand it the NPC you two are talking about only turns off experience gained from battlegrounds. The second, and perhaps more important of the two is that, as has been stated before, we would need a few people, hopefully with the most consistent amounts of time on the forums and in game, to check over applications. Similarly we would need a way to filter who is and isn't accepted into the program. This is not meant to say we are trying to be selective, it is simply based off of the fact that there are always a few people who will sign up but never show up or will treat this more as a way to have someone following them around doing whatever they want. I do not intend for that to be directed at anyone it just seems to happen.))nn((Important side note: if we get to the point at which a "job fair" event can be done it will need to be in a secure horde only zone, this topic isn't exactly in the "no allis allowed" portion of the forums and we don't need some random alliance to see it and think of griefing it. This limits the places it can be in however.))nSincerely,n Dark/Zer

((topic update because of new members of the guild. About now would actually be a good time to do this. With all the events, both guild organized and personal, there are more and more opportunities for this to be helpful. PS. Than I accept your challenge! :P))
