The Journey of Barbed
I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I was hoping to explain my somewhat unique situation during my interview before we were so rudely interrupted by the Enemy.nnI grew up on the streets of Silvermoon City. My father is a drunkard. You can probably find him just about anytime lying outside of the Silvermoon Inn or some other tavern passed out. That was my experience growing up. I was force to fend for myself, seeking out food, shelter and the other necessities of life. I grew up on my own without anyone to teach me right from wrong. I was never sent to school and was illiterate most of life. I've only recently learned to read and write. I had no opportunity to find a legitimate profession. It was little wonder that I became a footpad, a cutpurse and eventually an assassin. I gained a reputation as someone who would do the jobs no one else would do. If you needed someone killed or an object retrieved, I was the elf to go to.nnI never knew my mother. Whenever I would ask my father about her, he would curse and drink even more. I'm sure she is the reason he became a waste of a life and I hated him for it. There were many time that I contemplated ended his useless life myself, but something stayed my hand. I never knew what I wanted to do with my life, I just knew I didn't want to end up like him. That's why it was so easy for me to fall under the influence of THe Lich King. He offered me a purpose in life. To serve.nnWhen my eyes were opened to the true evil of the Lich KIng I became a wanderer. I had no idea of who I was or why I was even alive. I found myself looking for a purpose and an honorable way to live. Eventually, I found myself in the Scryers Library. There were Blood Elves there willing to teach me how to read and taught me the noble history of our race. For the first time I saw there there was a better way, a more noble way to live. I spent days and weeks in the library reading and learning. It was in the library that I first read of the Lady Nyx and the tribe that had been form to serve her. I was attracted to her desire for power and the idea that she was seeking her true identity. That's when I knew what I wanted to do with my life. I would join the followers of Lady Nyx and make a name for myself. I would become what my father could never be, noble and honorable. He had an aversion to anyone greater than himself and cursed the Highborn. I'm sure he will spend the long years ahead of him in misery and I have no desire to end his misery.nnSo now I am with the Nyx. For the first time in my life I have found a real home. I want to discover more about the history of our race. I could have never joined a group that was lead by some other race. The Highborn, I feel, are destined to rule to other peoples of Azaroth. nnIn many ways I am still young. I feel I have much to learn about the wide world because of the decades I spend in ignorance. I have just begun to learn honorable professions, professions worthy of the Highborn, enchanting and inscription. I have no desire to dig in the dirt for minerals or cut the skins from animals. I've spent enough years in filth. nnI'm grateful for the direction that Lady Asarlah has given to my life and the example of the Noble Highborn that I have never had befor.
