A New Name For the Ward of Lore!

I have read this thread through several times. The feeling I got from Ian's first post was that of an Officer stating a finality. And although Ian isn't one YET, I had assumed that all three Oracles had been talked to and aggreed to this change. This by no means sounded like a brainstorming idea that would later be voted on and approved. That is where Ian went wrong and slightly aggrivated a few. While I not opposed to this change, I believe Ian could have used a bit more tact when Lah questioned the change. And I didn't see anything in her post that downright opposed this change and would hinder this or others from coming up with ideas. I find it a bit disrespectful to see the way Ian has responded to Lah's unease of this possible change. I more than think the anonymous submissions are from who don't care about or want the attention. Also I agree with Lah And Myyah that this new name if changed should stay "Ward of____" for the sake of symmetry. And Parted also makes even more sense by saying the title is less important than the inner workings of the Ward which needs work seeing as there is still no Nightwarder. This project should slowly progress until then. Just for LahnWard of MCGURGASLKGEOFFISHCKILLLINEARRR n<3nnI've always viewed the ward of lore not as a roleplay focused portion of the guild but IC it should be Lady Nyx's most devoted of followers, paying homage to her in forms of Art, theatre and song. Just as the oracles are a conduit to the Dark lady should the ward of lore serve as her PR campaign. G&N oversees the beginning of everything during a persons first step even into nyx. Its a very matronly feel which when I saw your post made me think perhaps something like "brood" or "Clutch" but then I thought Ward of Clutches and Ward of Broods and I just laughed at the sound. Perhaps in time and if this proves fruitful something could come along for G&N and someone much more verbally endowed than I will aid you nnBest of luck guysnnS.D.

2) My recollection from being in channel at the time was that Aitana and Warburn gave approval for Ianodil and the Ward of Lore to brainstorm and discuss ideas for renaming the Ward. That's what this thread is in the first place.

nnYes, Filarius, that is what initiated this thread. However, Ianodil presented this item from the position of being an Officer in charge of Lore, as if it were mandated; and was completely disrespectful to an Oracle that questioned it. Then tried to hide behind the other Oracles when called to task for his insolence and insubordination. He alone will have to suffer the results of his poor choices. Not the Ward members who at no time followed his improper lead, and were completely unaware that he was shooting himself in the foot, while biting the hand that had been feeding him.nn

I know I might be considered to be a bit new to be poking my nose into this discussion, but I've been listening to the different viewpoints over the past few days and feel that I have some suggestions that need voicing.nnI love Brokomono's Ward of Night*something* etc but think that simply changing it to Ward of Night would be better. Lady Nyx is a Dark Mistress and those who hold her histories and that of the tribe should reflect that.nnMy other thought is that people seem to not like the current length of Growth and Nourishment. So instead why not simply change the name to Ward of Growth, it still shows what the ward is about and shortens it nicely without making too many changes.nn*makes some notes on the latest page of her ever handy tome of knowledge*

nnThe duties of Growth and Nourishment are oft times behind the scenes and multi fold.nnGrowth has to do with the Hall of Judgment, Hall of Records, and is not limited to but includes maintenance and administrative works both in game and on the forums involving personnel (recruitment, research and initial assessment, interviews, mergers, records management, forum oversight and input, etc).nnThe Nourishment part you will see scattered everywhere on our event calendar. nnMany of the longer names on the Lore brainstorm thread are appropriate, as you said about this one. But they will not easily lend themselves to indentify what ward a person is aligned with on the in game socials guild tag. Therein lies the spacing issue.nn(( Name )) Dark Mother : is what you will see there.nnWhile it WILL fit, there will not be room for other notes. Such as :nn(( Name )) Dark Mother (Main name) - if an altn(( Name )) Dark Mother (alt 0000) - if a special character in namen(( Name )) Dark Mother (trade skills) - as some prefer to have shownetcnnAt the end of the day, more than five or six spaces for Ward designation simply will not work very well. Please keep that in mind as you think of names.nnOf course you could just put:nn(( Name )) DMnnBut that might still sound like a grocery store.nn*giggles*
