Re: main
Everyone in the Alliance just calls you Zuljang regardless of what character you're on.. So I'd go with that one. :p

Dies the beast.
Dies the king.
In fire's path, dies everything.
PS: Yes. You actually do have to run faster than the lion.

Re: main
I think it also really depends on how you define "main" -- I have several alts, which Aitana I'm sure can attest to. Back in my first tenure with Nyx, I routinely attended events as different characters. My priest and warlock routinely raided, my warlock and my hunter routinely engaged in battlegrounds with the guild, my shaman and my paladin engaged in level groups and instance boosting, all of my characters cycled through role-play events. If memory serves, I had six or seven fairly decently leveled characters in the guild all at the same time at one point.nnHi, my name is Basharn, and I'm an altoholic.nnBut through it all, the character I cherished most was Lielyn, my priest, and she was the only one I was eager truly be completest with things about. And that really, fundamentally, for me decides who my main is -- the one whom I care enough to make sure gets all the holiday achievements, gets all the nifty little ancillary, extra stuff. Not necessarily whom I play the most, but the one who I feel the most love and affection toward. Basharn is going to become a "main" as well, giving me two characters whom I will endeavor to get everything done and see given those awesome little toys and trinkets and what-not.nnI have a buddy who picked his main entirely on role-play merit -- he crafted a story that he identified with very much for his character and has had a great deal of success playing the concept. The dude had several other max-level characters, all who had invested more time in during Burning Crusade, but once he jived with the paladin, he was done. He hasn't rolled an alt or leveled another character since. I don't know that he has any particular affection for the class, but he really loves the story of that character.nnConversely, if you define main as whom you spend the most time playing... Well, like Aitana said, given enough time, the truth will out, right? If time invested is the deciding factor, you'll find you gravitate more toward one or the other and eventually your alts will become, well... alts, just as a matter of course.nnAll that being said, I figure I should weigh in -- my personal vote, not knowing how you define main and simply leaning on my own personal likes and dislikes of class mechanics, is and will always be priest. Be they discipline, shadow, or even that poor, forgotten, elderly uncle of the priestly specs, holy, priests are just awesome incarnate. But, then, I'm biased. I <3 my priest. I was raid healing as a discipline before discipline was cool. With Nyx. In Tempest Keep and Serpent Shine. Discipline all the way, baby.nnRandom thought, completely non-sequitur but germane to my previous musing, I remember grinding our way through Tempest Keep with Link and Bare and Aitana and the rest (I was so happy when I got my wings! I still have them in my bank.), wiping time and time again on the stupid phoenix and thinking, "Good god, why is this fight so freaking complicated?" And now, doesn't the stupid Al'ar fight seem so easy-mode compared to the insanity of fights like Rotface and the Professor? A real-life friend of mine pulled in me in to heal an ICC25 the other night elseserver, and I just had to shake my head. Putricide makes Al'ar seem tame. How did I ever get so frustrated at Al'ar? Ultimately, it was fairly straight-forward. Like the old man I slowly realize I'm becoming, I found myself wistfully pining for the good oll' days of Burning Crusade where the fights were much less gimmicky and DBM sounding and flashing every heartbeat with some bit of vital information that if ignored could ruin the evening not unlike bad oysters. (Admittedly, it flashed often -- every ten heartbeats or so, but I found that much more manageable. As it stands currently, I feel almost as though I am in some kind of Lovecraftian nightmarish hell, only hell is casino where everyone is winning but me, so I'm surrounded by flashing lights and bells that bring me no joy whatsoever. And in context of WoW, the only other person playing in the nightmare casino is the game itself. And it always wins. Bastard.)nnOkay. I'm done. Take that as you will. Ja, ne!

nnThis.. I'm an altoholic as well. I've got 9 characters at various levels. My druid, Slapajo (also my first character and the one I joined Nyx with originally, years ago) is still a Tauren if anyone ever wants to say hi.Basharn wrote:I think it also really depends on how you define "main" -- I have several alts, which Aitana I'm sure can attest to.
