Re: RP Question... 8)
*laughs* nnFor some reason, I think you need to be highly specific on what you want. Then again, you could always make the thing yourself.nn*thinks about all of this for a moment, then sighs realizing that she would have better success telling this to a brick wall*

I don't think it's too much to expect people to refrain from "netspeak" while an RP is going on in /g ((but if you take away my emotes in OOC I won't be happy >:O))nn*grins*

Re: RP Question... 8)
This is a weird topic for me, as I almost always type out what I mean rather than abbreviate.nnI'll type out <laughs> <grins> <chuckles> excetera, and really the only emoticons I use are
, >.<, -.-;; and maybe one or two others that are similar. I will admit, I abuse
a lot. nnThat being said, I have no fundamental objection to people using abbreviations or emoticons in everyday typing; I've never really sort of believed that my personal opinions should be the influencing, deciding factor on how other people communicate or spend their time (which I suppose is an odd mentality for someone who is literally a professional critic, paid to give his opinion and thus, theoretically, influence people on making buying and or viewing decisions -- I am, as always, a living contradiction).nnAs far as actual, in-character play goes, I dunno -- I'd probably stray away from net-slang and emoticons. But out of character chat, go hog wild. That's just me, though.

Re: RP Question... 8)
I would like to see the tradition of putting OOC comments, emotes, and such in the (( )) format still if it is found necessary.... this is an RP PVP server, and we are an RP guild.. one of the greatest ones on the server... so with that said, we should keep ourselves to to that measure, in my opinion.

Re: RP Question... 8)
((Out of character)) and emote *sigh* are not the same, as an emote is virtually always in character, thus differing brackets.nn*grins faintly*nn((Actually, I am faintly grinning))nnEyesore

Re: RP Question... 8)
You are correct, Elder Eyesore... that is precisely what I intended to convey, but realized I didn't .... (( )) for OOC .. * * for emotes . nnIt's a hearthstone, not an I-Stone, so save the "ty ..
.... 8)... lol... nm... etc " for the I phone.

Re: RP Question... 8)
I may be jumping into this too late and a lot ignorant... but has Nyx tried an IC-only channel?nnThe idea is to have a guild channel that everyone auto-logs onto and for those that want to respond and talk wholly IC, they can speak in that channel. Gchat, meanwhile, is wholly OOC. nnThis method has helped me in the past identify people who are speaking IC (e.g. responding to a question as their character would) versus people having an OOC conversation.nnHehe I'm sure you guys have already thought of this, but I just wanted to throw it out there as having worked with it before.

Re: RP Question... 8)
The idea of having an IC only channel and the idea of having an OOC channel with IC guild chat have both been tossed around.nnIC only channelnChannels have this way of disappearing in WoW so you have to make sure you are actually in it. Since there is an IC channel, then guild chat becomes purely OOC. Since people aren't automatically in the IC channel, it tends to fall into disuse and only the ooc chat remains.nnOOC channel with IC guild chat nTo do this we would have to ask the people that don't talk much IC in guild chat to completely change how they operate. There is the same issue with people not being in the channel. Guild chat tends to go silent because it takes a little more effort to say the same thing in character than to say it out of character. We have problems already where people feel that they are being ignored in guild chat. It would be even works in an OOC channel where only a portion of the guild is active.nnAnd so we end up back at where we are now were guild chat is a combination of IC and OOC *shrug*
