A New Name For the Ward of Lore!

I agree with Eyesore.nnI just don't see any name that serves RP more then Lore. That being said, if everybody is clamoring for a name change I won't get in the way.

If I could throw my two cents in... sometimes the opinion of newbies is a good thing. nnI think we can come up with something that is even better and more original than "Clan" and "Tribe". Personally, I've always associated "tribes" with bands of trolls and "clans" with orc organization. For that matter, "houses" are for the elves, and... well, I'm not sure what the Tauren use.nnDivisions, battallions, companies, regiments... all of these are a bit over the top for what Nyx is (or at least what I perceive it to be). But what is it, exactly, that Nyx is? The bedrock fundamental?nnNyx is an Order of followers that revere a (half?) deity as both matron and prophet. This deity, the Lady Nyx, prefers to be cloaked in Shadow and Mystery. As has already been mentioned, these elements should be reflected in our organization.nnSo, for what it's worth, I would like to present an idea that I had while reading this thread.nnThe Twilight Council - the three OraclesnThe Scions of Nyx - all of the highest officersnnOrder of Fortification - a group dedicated to supporting the guild and it's members, through assignment of duties, maintaining resupplies of the guild bank, maintaining guild meetings and events (planning, attendance, etc)nOrder of Erudition - group dedicated to higher education and gaining the world's truest power- knowledge. Also tasked with engaging the guild in social and official gatherings. (RP)nOrder of Tribulation - those who are dedicated to leading the guild through the dangerous trials that life on Azeroth presents us. These people are charged with making sure that members that may belong to the other Orders are as prepared as possible if they will be joining the guild on these trials.nOrder of Domination - a group committed to leading the guild in all confrontations against the Alliance. Secondary responsibilities include training and gearing of those who would fight in the name of the Lady Nyx.nnHope that appeals to folks; if not, well just take it in the helping spirit it was meant.

nnWarby, I do not hear "Everyone" clamoring......nnMost voices have clearly stated they Honor our past and hold Lore very dear and prefer it first and foremost – You, Aitana and Myself included. It seems to me most only participate in this exercise because it was called for, and it’s fun – NOT because they truly want the name of the Ward to be changed. Every one just likes to brainstorm.nn*smiles*nnI also agree with Eyesore, and certainly Will get in the way if something is suggested not in keeping with our Tribal customs and history.nnEveryone needs to listen with a carefully tuned ear for what is most appropriate for the Tribe. Unless something is suggested that is well and truly loved by the majority and found fitting, I personally will stand firm. nnIf something is suggested that fits that bill, I will also be among the first to rise up, and clamor “Oh my God, that’s It !!” But thus far….. nothing in particular really leaps out besides “Ward of Lore.”nn*continues to participate and listen, in good faith, to the suggestions*

Shixin, your suggestions are very appealing to me, personally. nnAs far as how many people are interested in name changes truly, I believe we should take a poll. nn*looks to the Oracles* nnPerhaps, we could take a simple yes/no poll that begs the questions "Should we update the names of the Wards or keep them as they are? " nnIf we get an overwhelming response... say 75% or greater, then we should then go on to phase II , and put quill to parchment and come up with 3 alternative drafts. nnEach draft will have something like what Shixin has here.. an overhaul of the entire system so that it has internal integrity and looks like a well designed system. nnIn other words, no hodge podge where we have Lore = Order of Disciples... G&N = Growth ... War = Empire of Warriors... etc etc.. you get the gist. nnnSo, I move to take the poll to see if there is overwhelming interest.. Otherwise, lets put this issue to rest.. we have many other issues to work on otherwise. nnThankee

Now being serious I vote against this, I personally don't see any reason whatsoever for changing the name. You couldn't possibly make the name any more clear for what it's purpose is. It's what we've done so far, there's no need to complicate it any further.
