Guild Relations Program-RIP

Postby Thulcondar » Fri Jul 16, 2010 9:11 am

"long ago when they changed all the forums to new software, Eyonix wanted to create a guild relations program which would take select guilds and basically give them a title. They might have a little input to design. Those guilds would have some recognition, and others who wanted similar guilds could try to emulate.nnProbably a year or two later, he actually selected the guilds. About 6 were chosen that represented very different aspects of WoW, including pvp, RP, progression raiding, and partying. A few of those guilds are still active today.nnThe program never really went anywhere. It not only had lack of support from blizzard, but lack of direction... there was, unfortunately, no purpose for it given or realized."nn"I know that I was part of the initial meetings on Skywall for the guildleader roundtable, so I'll pipe in what I know.nnWytch's guild <Resurrection> on Skywall was one of those guild that was originally recognized in the guild relations program.nnThe whole guildleader summit meeting was an entertaining thing, unfortunately, it wasn't something that I foresaw would last, and I was right. The problem being is that not every guild is run and organized by good management.nnWhat guilds qualify? 5 players? 2 months?nWhat about d-bag guildleaders? Not everyone has the same scruples in managementnThere was a guild who's sole purpose was to break the honor cap code - they succeeded and made many enemies along the way. Should they be invited?nIt's the task of trying to organize network organization multiple networks with unclear identifiers. Pretty much the hardest thing imaginable.nnHope this ramble helped.nnTLDR: It did exist, dunno what happened to the official program."

Nice in theory, but next to impossible to actually manage.
