Family Tree Creator

Postby Eione » Sat Sep 11, 2010 10:47 pm

Aelyrra and I are tracing some family history, wanting to keep track of what we might discover I went looking for an online tool and found this. http://www.familyecho.comnnYou do need to create an account to save but if you are working jointly with another person you can share access via their email so both can save changes to it. Thought this might come in handy for some of you.

I had to check this out just to see if it was like all of the others. I LOVE IT! I liked how I can send a link to my family and they can edit and add to it. At least I think they can add to it.

If you send a link to your family and have the option for them to edit it, which is a checkbox disabled by default, they can edit it.

I should see if my mom uses this site or knows about it. She has become the family historian so to speak and has done extensive research into the genealogy of her family and my dad's. She has us traced back until the family lines came to the U. S. and in some cases that goes back into the 1600's. There are a few lines she's working on still.

My mom had (I don't know if he's still alive or not) a cousin who wrote a book for my grandfather's side, and I think it goes back to at least the Revolutionary War. The names in there make me wonder such as: Anger. *shrugs* Rumors were spread about parts of that side being from Barbados; I've not found exact proof of that. As for my grandmother, another cousin did the research for some of it, but left a lot of gaps that I've oddly enough been lucky to fill. My grandmother's side goes all the way back to France, village of Cheux in Normandy. My father's side is the hardest part. My great grandmother tried to keep a record that she could date back to the 1700's but it's hard to read, and because she kept the thing in her purse (she copied this information from a family bible that has since gone missing) the paper is showing it's age and it's a bit tattered. So pretty much I know that I'm French, Irish (which I adore), English and Dutch. All of that wrapped into one. nn*goes to dig out the books and start putting names in slots*

English, German, Pennsylvania Dutch (still more German), Dutch (the real Dutch), Scottish, and possibly some French. Some of my ancestors were Huguenots that originally came from England, moved to France, and then came to the English colonies in 1699 so I don't know if they would count as French or English.

Just be aware that when you get further away across the tree it will only show the few closest relatives, kinda freaked me out till I realised that's what it was doing.

You're confusing the Scots with the Irish.
