Here's a basic breakdown of how Cataclysm will launch, confirmed by Ghostcrawler (from WoW.com)nn

Zarhym -- Patch 4.0.1 will include?Quote: nnPatch 4.0.1 will launch several weeks before Cataclysm ships, similar to 2.0.1 and 3.0.2. It will include: nn- New launcher n- Class changes n- Stat changes n- Talent tree overhaul n- Glyph changes n- Reforging? n- Mastery? (although it might not be useful until Cataclysm) nnPatch 4.0.3 will launch shortly before Cataclysm ships. Based on what Tom Chilton and others have said, this will include (without purchase of Cataclysm): nn- Cataclysm intro cinematic and login screen n- Revamped classic Eastern Kingdom and Kalimdor zones n- New race/class combinations for existing races n- Graphics improvements (water, etc) n- Guild leveling system? nnCataclysm will ship shortly afterwards and buying it will unlock: nn- Level 85 level cap n- 525 Profession skill caps n- Goblins and Worgen, and their starter zones n- New Level 80+ zones, dungeons, heroics, raids n- New battlegrounds n- Rated battlegrounds n- Flying mounts in Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor n- Archaeology n- 310% speed flying mounts? nnPlease correct anything I got wrong or missednnThat looks almost right.
