nnnI know that there are with some systems, such as SimpleMachinesForums and PhPNUKE, but I'm not 100% sure about WP+PhPbb. I'll look around for that.nn*edit* I just found several WP plugins that allow for the display of "recent posts on phpbb forums". I'm going to look at all of these and see how customizable they are.Shixin wrote:Kain, is there a WP widget for pulling news from posts on forums? I know with phpBB forums and portals, you can set up your front page to pull posts from a News forum and post them as News automatically on the front page.

I would also like to point out that 50% of new people to the server go to the forums to see what it is like. When Tsurara and I moved here that's what we did and I don't remember even hearing about Nyx until we were on the server for a while.nnJust something I wanted to add for thought.nn~Gino

Re: Nyx PR Campaign
I've been on this server for a few years and I'd always seen Nyx around. But I had no idea it was a roleplaying guild. I had never seen members in character offer to assist my low level horde characters. On my alliance characters I only knew Nyx for ganking me on sight, from level 1 up. As far as I was concerned, it was just another big guild but with an interesting name.nnWhat got my attention toward Nyx in a positive way was Thyren grouping with Utada and I in a heroic dungeon. He was polite and helpful. And that was it, Thyren recruited us by showing some character.nnI think staying in character in the world, offering help here and there, beating up bad guys while staying in character goes a long way. Riding past an enemy with a wave might even recruit that player away from alliance if they're interested in noble play.

Re: Nyx PR Campaign
nnThe ganking part concerns me. When I read the rules when I was applying to the guild I was more than ecstatic to read that ganking was frowned upon. However I've noticed that it's not actually enforced.nnPersonally I will help a low level Alliance player with something if I encounter them in the wild and there is something I can help them with. The only time I will kill them is if they decide to hit me first (in which case my Lightning Shield usually shows them how stupid of a decision hitting someone 60+ levels higher than you is). Sometimes, I'll turn them into a frog, but I'll never kill them needlessly.nnOne of my first memories of Nyx was back when I first started playing WoW. I was Alliance back then, I was making the long run from Ironforge to Darnassus. I came across the orcs up in the mountains between Loch Modan and Wetlands and they didn't like me. Then I see an orc shaman come up out of the tunnel. I had also heard tales from other Alliance players that if you see a Horde player, they will kill you. So I pretty much thought myself as good as dead at this point.nnThe shaman begins to cast a spell and I'm like "well here it goes" and then the orc that was chasing me drops dead and the shaman waves and then proceeds to escort me to Menethil. I distinctly remember the guild tag <Nyx> being associated with just that shaman.nnI thought highly of Nyx from that day forth. I'm sure if that shaman decided to bring his wrath down upon me instead of the other orc that wanted to kill me I would have thought much differently.Predatoro wrote:I've been on this server for a few years and I'd always seen Nyx around. Re: Nyx PR Campaign
I have been playing WoW a long time now (too long - lol), and have had several toons across several servers in several guilds. Nyx, by far, is the best of them. When i started to play horde, i knew i wanted rp-pvp, but had no idea where to start for a guild. So after reading through at least 100 guild pages, it was Nyx's Guild charter that really ended up convincing me to apply. The charter is very good. nnThe other thing Nyx does very well compared to other guilds is select good candidates. What a smart process...its not about how good a raider or pvper you are, its about who you are. Even when people leave Nyx for whatever reason, I never hear bad press afterwards.nnHoping to play again in December - take care friends!nnCheck out my original application...its the 3rd one ever on the site - haha!nnviewtopic.php?f=39&t=80

Re: Nyx PR Campaign
nnI saw a prime example by a player who I see is no longer in the guild. I was out mining in Winterspring and came across a priest named Lohtil camping a gray low level alliance. I prowled and watched him do it at least 5 or 6 times, running around jumping and emoting. That sort of bugged me, so I logged in my alliance feral druid and asked the alliance what he did to get camped. He said he was just killing the mobs for his quest and this caster came and started camping him. I moongladed and rode there, pummeled and started camping Lohtil so the alliance could finish his quest. Next thing I know, a warrior named Wuts shows up and killed the alliance. I didn't want to fight both Lohtil and Wuts, so I stayed in prowl while Wuts jumped around emoting. I figured he was trying to bait me out so I'd have to fight two. I left him there to jump around by himself, when I logged back to Pred and did a /who on the zone there were several Nyx members arriving.nnSo...summary of story...maybe some of the past members have been more gankers than they let on when nobody was around to see.Wylair wrote:The ganking part concerns me.
