I've heard that the Inscription profession requires a lot of herbs. A friend of mine that's in the beta said that there will be a high demand for Peacebloom, Silverleaf, and other low level herbs. Thinking about this leads to other questions.
What do we know about the mechanics of how the profession works? Do inscriptions take up bag space like potions, elixirs and scrolls? Or do they get consumed and effectively act like enchants on your spellbook? Or how exactly do they work?
What herbs and other mats should people that plan to take up inscriptions be stockpiling now?
Do we have people that plan on taking up inscriptions as a profession?

Spoiler alert! : Don't read further
Ok - my connections to inscription have led me to the following link:
http://www.elsprofessions.com/inscription/inks.html
The implication is that herbs will indeed be in high demand. Whether you are a budding Inscriptionist, or a market speculator, the information might make life easier for you.

Re: Inscriptions
From poking around in the beta a bit, this much I've learned about Inscriptions:
1. Glyphs: There are 6 total glyphs that you can have, 3 major, 3 minor. Each glyph can augment a spell or ability (IE. Glyph of chain heal and glyph of Circle of healing both add an additional target)
2. There is a scroll that you can make early on that can transport toons under level 50 to Shattrath.
I'll try and get on this weekend and remove one of my professions (or both to get the herbalism too) to check it out further.

Re: Inscriptions
This mage intends to learn the Inscription profession. Already I am able to pick any flower known to the Horde so one can only hope that the Inscription trainers will like me enough to teach me quickly about this new profession ((skill up faster since herbalism is capped for BC)). And if they don't like me, then there will be h3ll to pay!
((I have not started stockpiling lowbie herbs, but will want to start doing so soon. I will look here often to stay in the loop and feel free to contact me ingame about this topic. I am willing to help stockpile flowers for the guild if we need to have that done in the event anyone else wants in on this new profession.))

Re: Inscriptions
I have a friend that prefers the safety of Ogrimmar that holds my herbs for me ((aka my herb bank)) and I am storing up a stockpile of them for those in Nyx that want to take up inscriptions. Seleucia is thinking about it, but she might never achieve the skill that we need for the guild as we take on the hazards in Northrend.
