Ulua's tragic past

Postby Ulua » Mon Sep 15, 2008 8:42 pm

PART I

Before the war with the Scourge, Ulua's house was held in high regard in the Blood Elven city of Silvermoon. Ulua, Knight of the House Of Ta'arni, was sent to train with the Elite Paladin trainers of Silvermoon. She fought bravely in the war, protecting Tranquilin, with her own blood, evidence of the scar she wears across her back. Raked by an Undead scourge, she called upon her holy Avatar, Gabriel to save her from the very fate that many of her brethen had suffered. Gabriel answered and she able to live another day. Her Officers called for her to return to Silvermoon for the city itself was under seige. For days she and her fellow knights fought the undead. And in the end, the Western House of Ta'arni was destroyed. Her family was lost. Her name was no more. She vowed revenge. And attacked the Undead centers of Stratholme, and the Plaguelands. It was there in the Eastern Plagueland she destroyed the mighty Darkmaster Grandling. Her wounds from the battle were severe and she prayed again to her Avatar. Gabriel himself appeared before her. She begged for his holy touch, that she may once again make the undead taste her Gladiators Painsaw. However something unexpected happened. The sadness in her holy Avatars eyes were evident. He did not speak, he only reached out with his hand. Not for his healing powers but more for his pity. As if to say, how long will u seek revenge? Ulua wide-eyed and bloody realized her folly. A Paladins strength comes from Compassion not debts owed. It comes from kindness not cruelty. It comes from honor not humilation. Oh she had left the Path of Rightousness for one of revenge and hate! If not for her Avatars powers she would simply be a warrior, a mercenary! In an instance the Avatar was gone and she was left to travel to the safety of Undercity alone and without her holy powers. Who then would help a fallen Paladin?

With the safety of Undercity so close Ulua called upon her trusty mount, Ghostbane. Ghostbane appeared from the dense fog of the Plaguelands to her master. Together they made it to the road and headed west. However the fog was thick and the road was lost. Ulua found herself the Ruins of Andorhal, a known nest of terrible undead. The abandoned buildings creaked and moaned as the undead rose to destroy the weakened paladin. No, Ulua had no strength to fight as the Undead began to slowly surround her. She turned to retreat when a Cold Wraith shot a powerful bolt into Ghostbane freezing her legs. Soon the Screaming Haunts and Flesh golems would block Ulua's retreat. Fine. Then Ulua will have to make a path. She pointed her Gladiators Painsaw at the foul beasts and the fight was on....
Wave after wave of Undead fell to Ulua, and though her mana was waning, she found high ground to defend. Then a call arose that made Ulua's skin crawl. It was a group of Scarlet Paladins screaming their battlecry. Sworn enemies of anti-paladins, Uluas rage consumed her, for nothing is worse to a paladin than those who corrupt the order. Anti-Paladins! The bastards will taste her Crusaders strike! She may fall to them, but she must destroy the hypocracy they embody.

Combined with the Undead and the Scarlet Paladins Ulua knew this would be her last stand. Ghostbane cried out; a Scarlet Paladin knew Uluas weakness as he pulled the broadsword from the white mount, covered in crimson blood. He looked at Ulua. Knowing she would take the offense then leaving the saftey of high ground. "Come Blood Elf, my sword will unite beast with master! haha!"

Ghostbane lay on the ground gurgling her last breaths....

Part III

The Scarlet Cultist had slain the Paladins mount. No act of retribution would fullfill the loss Ulua now felt. Thier deaths were quick and brutal. Defeated and confused, Ulua wandered back to the safety of the Undercity to find solace.

The House of Ta'arni had fallen. Ghostbane was killed. Her Avatar had abandoned her. Ulua thought of retiring to Brill and leaving the ways of the Light to those with more strength. She wanted to protect those who neeeded it. To become a full Knight of the Sindori. To follow the strict teachings that her Paladin trainers had drilled into her very soul. But she felt the suffering she endured was breaking her. Soon she may just become a warrior at arms. Signing on for odd jobs, picking up bounties off of Wanted posters.

She slept many nights in Undercity wondering if she would ever be fit for the duties of a Retribution Knight. Then one night she had a dream.

A woman came to her, a lady.

"Ulua, you are lost. And you are lost for a reason. The road of your destiny lays before you. You have lost everything you were born with. You are now cleansed to start anew. I ask you this, child: Do you want to serve the light? Or do you wish the sanctuary of domestication?"

In her dream Ulua answered, "I have always searched for the light. To serve and protect is all I wish for"

The lady, surrounded by mist offered an understanding smile, "then I offer you one name that will lead you to glory and honor.....NYX........

"Nyx", Ulua repeated. She awoke that morning and began preperations for her journey.

She awaited the Hunters arrival at the small town known as the Crossroads. Lucky for Ulua, she had one last living relative in Azaroth. Tarnia, Hunter of the Fallen House of Ta'arni of Western Silvermoon, was known to chase big game in the Barrens. Ulua sent word of her coming and soon the cousins would meet at the small inn of this wild town.

"Cousin Ulua! Shorel ala!"

"Well met, Cousin Tarnia" she replied.

"What brings you to the barrens? Care to hunt the big cats with me?" Tarnia asked. Tarnia's skill with the bow and gun were unmatched in the House, Ulua knew this. But it was her excellent tracking abilities that Ulua was interested in.

"Ahhh, I leave the great beasts to the powers of your shot, girl." Ulua said with a smile. "But I am in need of a hunters services"
Ulua handed Tarnia a parchment with a list of names, with the heading, 'Nyx'.

"Find these officers for me will you child?" Ulua's face seemed to tighten.

"Oooo a bounty hunt! I do so love to hunt wrongdoers. Do you want me to ahem...take care of them?"

Ulua's laughter came high and condescending. "Ha! ooo no, child. Just find them and tell me thier locations is all I ask", she turned serious, "do not engage, just locate".

"ahhh so boring, cousin Ulua. But as you wish"

"I know that some of the officers are here in the Barrens as we speak. Begone girl, before the chance is missed!"

The Blood Elf hunter bowed, whistled for her tracker, and headed south into the wilds of the barrens.
