Nyx Gazette

Issue XX

Welcome, readers, to the twentieth edition of the Nyx Gazette! Once again, this week presents a packed report, as the holiday week brought a surprising amount of events to the fore, as opposed to the realatively laidback time many expected. And remember, dear readers, the Gazette still seeks submissions from all of you, as well as more subjects for the Spotlight article!

Field Report: Movement in the Eastern Kingdoms

The first segment of this week’s Gazette is The Field Report. Stories from our battles against the Alliance and chronicles of our war efforts are contained within. All readers are encouraged to send in their accounts and images, as they may very well find a place among The Field Report!

Activity on the war front is still slow in this past holiday week, with most of the Horde (and assumedly, the Alliance) taking the time to celebrate the holiday. It was not without incident, however, as many Alliance were found attempting to feast in Horde territory, and they had the nerve to take our chairs with them when they died as well! Such pig headed hypocrites they are, sometimes. Such interlopers were dealt with swiftly, however, and the holidays were able to continue mostly unabated.

I did say “slow” and not absent quite intentionally, however. Early in the holiday a week, Horde forces of which many Nyx were members of took part in a double offensive on the two largest hubs of Alliance activity in the Eastern Kingdoms: Ironforge, and Stormwind. This measure was mostly successful, particularly in Ironforge, where the Horde held the center of the city for quite some time before meeting any meaningful resistance. The Horde came out mostly unscathed, leaving a strong message for the Alliance: The Horde is not to be trifled with, even in these holiday times.

As well, regular excursions into battlegrounds are continuing as planned, most often on Wednesday nights, but also in impromptu instances. Be sure to contact Nightwarder Leothiel Frosthawk if you wish to come along on one of these exercises, or ask around to see if a group is forming.

Danger In Azeroth: The Frozen Depths

If there is one thing the holidays have not affected, it’s Nyx battles against the forces of darkness in Northrend, and indeed all around Azeroth. Many expeditions were held over the course of this week, all across this darkened land of ours.

The dread Necropolis, Naxxramas to this day looms in the sky, threatening all of Azeroth from its current home in the Dragonblight. Early this week, out very own Souldrake led an ambitious expedition into this bastion of the Lich King’s power. A rare collection of twenty five loyal Nyxians followed him into its walls, where they cleaved their way through many of the dread citadel’s inhabitants, in search of  the armaments of past warriors. Progress was made, and the whole event is notable for being a rare instance that so many are able to attend one of these such trials. Perhaps we will be able to continue to mae headway with such a large group into Naxxramas, so that more may join a large force into the titan ruins of Ulduar.

In Ulduar, Nyx continued to make progress within the frozen depths. This past week, in a bit of news that apparently escaped my eye, our brave Nyxians, led by Imrikk, forced their way into Ulduar, where they made battle with Hodir, and felled the giant. More recent expeditions, led by Worldofhurt and once more by Imrikk, weren’t quite as successful, but continue to persevere and progress forward through this challenge that lies ahead. Yogg-Saron awaits, and we will be there to meet him.

Elsewhere in Northrend, many Nyxians continue to prove themselves in the eyes of Tirion Fordring and his Argent Crusade, despite efforts otherwise by The Lich King himself. Congratulations to all of them, and look forward to more Nyxians stepping forward to challenge the Trial of the Crusader in the near future. Perhaps, soon, it will be time for the Trial of the Grand Crusader.

The Home Front: Turkey Time

As mentioned several times, this past week was the holiday of Pilgrim’ Bounty. Much joy was had during this time of reflection and good fortune. There was plenty to do, from dinners and tables in nearly every Horde city for all to sit down and feast at. However, perhaps most enjoyed by all, were requests to journey into Sethekk Halls in Outland and bring justice to Talon King Ikiss in a manner truly fitting of the holiday. I’m quite sure someone was able to turn this once dangerous creature into a feast to be enjoyed by Aldor and Scryer alike.

Aditionally, this past Sunday a guild meeting was had as announced last week.  The purpose of this meeting was specifically to sit back and relax; unwind from the hardships of the past few months. Standard guild business was held, with promotions for a number of members, a performance by The Tauren Chieftens, much to many’s surprise, and a race with a cash prize for the top three winners. These winners were Locust in third, Miaoyin in second, and Partedhair in first. Congratulations once more to all of these winners, and thank you to everyone who came to this meeting A wonderful time was had by all, and we hope everyone looks forward to the next such meeting. In fact…

Announcement

An important meeting of the tribe is being held tonight, Wednesday, at 9:30PM ST. The details of this meeting are unknown as of this time; however it is recommended that all who can attend, do. The location is presently undetermined, but keep your ears to the ground and as soon as one is determined, it will be relayed outwards.

Spotlight!

Welcome to Spotlight, a section that presents a small article on one of our esteemed members of Nyx, so that you may get to know your tribesman all the better!

We are still looking for volunteers for the Gazette’s Spotlight feature. If you are interested in having a short biography printed and possibly an interview conducted, please inform me as soon as possible so that matters may be properly arranged.

Additionally, we are searching for short accounts and submissions from our readers, of the week’s occurrences as well short stories and gnomish image captures of the notable events of the past week. These are very much needed to help spice up the gazette and give it more of a community driven feel. Please see below for more information.
