Anub’Arak has finally gone down! [Taurahe: Moo Anub’arak moo!]

After several long, ardurous hours of of battling through several of his grotesquely-powered minions, such as his right and left…  Claw…  Val’kyr Fjola and Eydis, the horrible twins of the Lich King whom specialize in their own twisted corruptions of both Light, and Darkness.  This troublesome duo was quite the challenge for the followers of Lady Nyx, seeing as their eminations of such fearsome power were so chaotic, that there was much moving and shaking to be had, lest one be laid waste in their path.  It was quite the long and troublesome fight, we made it through victorious.  We even managed to come out with a few pieces of their own personal weapons, unscathed for our very own personal use!

Aside from the twins, we also had to force our way through many other adversaries under the rule of the Lich King, such as Icehowl, and even Lord Jaraxxus, a major demon summoned by this power-hungry gnome-thing who thought he could control it!  Through fearsome beasts, and treacherous demons, Nyxians plowed through the challenges set before them!

Nyx Gazette XX

Nyx Gazette

Issue XX

Welcome, readers, to the twentieth edition of the Nyx Gazette! Once again, this week presents a packed report, as the holiday week brought a surprising amount of events to the fore, as opposed to the realatively laidback time many expected. And remember, dear readers, the Gazette still seeks submissions from all of you, as well as more subjects for the Spotlight article!

Field Report: Movement in the Eastern Kingdoms

The first segment of this week’s Gazette is The Field Report. Stories from our battles against the Alliance and chronicles of our war efforts are contained within. All readers are encouraged to send in their accounts and images, as they may very well find a place among The Field Report!

Activity on the war front is still slow in this past holiday week, with most of the Horde (and assumedly, the Alliance) taking the time to celebrate the holiday. It was not without incident, however, as many Alliance were found attempting to feast in Horde territory, and they had the nerve to take our chairs with them when they died as well! Such pig headed hypocrites they are, sometimes. Such interlopers were dealt with swiftly, however, and the holidays were able to continue mostly unabated.

I did say “slow” and not absent quite intentionally, however. Early in the holiday a week, Horde forces of which many Nyx were members of took part in a double offensive on the two largest hubs of Alliance activity in the Eastern Kingdoms: Ironforge, and Stormwind. This measure was mostly successful, particularly in Ironforge, where the Horde held the center of the city for quite some time before meeting any meaningful resistance. The Horde came out mostly unscathed, leaving a strong message for the Alliance: The Horde is not to be trifled with, even in these holiday times.

As well, regular excursions into battlegrounds are continuing as planned, most often on Wednesday nights, but also in impromptu instances. Be sure to contact Nightwarder Leothiel Frosthawk if you wish to come along on one of these exercises, or ask around to see if a group is forming.

Danger In Azeroth: The Frozen Depths

If there is one thing the holidays have not affected, it’s Nyx battles against the forces of darkness in Northrend, and indeed all around Azeroth. Many expeditions were held over the course of this week, all across this darkened land of ours.

The dread Necropolis, Naxxramas to this day looms in the sky, threatening all of Azeroth from its current home in the Dragonblight. Early this week, out very own Souldrake led an ambitious expedition into this bastion of the Lich King’s power. A rare collection of twenty five loyal Nyxians followed him into its walls, where they cleaved their way through many of the dread citadel’s inhabitants, in search of  the armaments of past warriors. Progress was made, and the whole event is notable for being a rare instance that so many are able to attend one of these such trials. Perhaps we will be able to continue to mae headway with such a large group into Naxxramas, so that more may join a large force into the titan ruins of Ulduar.

In Ulduar, Nyx continued to make progress within the frozen depths. This past week, in a bit of news that apparently escaped my eye, our brave Nyxians, led by Imrikk, forced their way into Ulduar, where they made battle with Hodir, and felled the giant. More recent expeditions, led by Worldofhurt and once more by Imrikk, weren’t quite as successful, but continue to persevere and progress forward through this challenge that lies ahead. Yogg-Saron awaits, and we will be there to meet him.

Elsewhere in Northrend, many Nyxians continue to prove themselves in the eyes of Tirion Fordring and his Argent Crusade, despite efforts otherwise by The Lich King himself. Congratulations to all of them, and look forward to more Nyxians stepping forward to challenge the Trial of the Crusader in the near future. Perhaps, soon, it will be time for the Trial of the Grand Crusader.

The Home Front: Turkey Time

As mentioned several times, this past week was the holiday of Pilgrim’ Bounty. Much joy was had during this time of reflection and good fortune. There was plenty to do, from dinners and tables in nearly every Horde city for all to sit down and feast at. However, perhaps most enjoyed by all, were requests to journey into Sethekk Halls in Outland and bring justice to Talon King Ikiss in a manner truly fitting of the holiday. I’m quite sure someone was able to turn this once dangerous creature into a feast to be enjoyed by Aldor and Scryer alike.

Aditionally, this past Sunday a guild meeting was had as announced last week.  The purpose of this meeting was specifically to sit back and relax; unwind from the hardships of the past few months. Standard guild business was held, with promotions for a number of members, a performance by The Tauren Chieftens, much to many’s surprise, and a race with a cash prize for the top three winners. These winners were Locust in third, Miaoyin in second, and Partedhair in first. Congratulations once more to all of these winners, and thank you to everyone who came to this meeting A wonderful time was had by all, and we hope everyone looks forward to the next such meeting. In fact…

Nyx Gazette XIX

Nyx Gazette

Issue XIX

Welcome, readers, to the nineteenth edition of the Nyx Gazette! This week’s issue is a packed issue, with many events and occurrences from the past two weeks, including a very important special report! . And remember, dear readers, the Gazette still seeks submissions from all of you, as well as more subjects for the Spotlight article!

Special Report: War Comes To An End

The Gazette this week begins with a very special report indeed. For those have not heard, our long and exhausting war with the Alliance force known as Kingship of the East has finally come to an end. By decree handed down by our own Lady Nyx, our conflict has come to an end at long last, much to the rejoicing of others.

In the spirit of this rejoicing and happiness among the Tribe in the wake of this announcement, a large victory parade and celebration were held, marching from Fairbreeze Village in Eversong to the heart of Silvermoon City. Quite a time was had, but the biggest surprise of the event was when our Lady Nyx appeared before us herself to encourage and congratulate us, and to tell us to look forward to the future as we move on from this taxing battle we have been unwittingly caught up in.

Additionally, commendations were provided to two of our own by our Lady herself, in honor of their services during these trying times. Congratulations to both Warzen and Filarius for receiving this highest honor, and we all hope you will continue to aid us when we need it most.

Field Report: All Quiet… For Now.

The first segment of this week’s Gazette is The Field Report. Stories from our battles against the Alliance and chronicles of our war efforts are contained within. All readers are encouraged to send in their accounts and images, as they may very well find a place among The Field Report!

As the headline reads, much has been quiet on the world of Azeroth since the war was brought to an end, at least in the form of concentrated hostilities. The usual skirmishes against the Alliance occur as usual, and more than a few time sin the past two weeks Nyx has been called to defend the Horde home cities, and have done so with zeal and fervor that would make Thrall proud.

Of particular note are Nyx’s continued excursions into the battlegrounds against the Alliance, occurring with increasing frequency and ferocity. Our Nightwarder of War, Leothiel Frosthawk, is regularly seeking warm, able, and willing bodies for these battles, so if you have even a passing desire to participate, please check the schedule board and sign up to attend.

The Home Front: A Time To Remember

Much has happened in the weeks since the last issue of the Nyx Gazette. First and foremost, we should all congratulate Partedhair and Wiindriider if you have not all ready. Though it was a week past, recently the two were happily wed, in what I am told was a wonderful ceremony held within the Moonglade on Kalimdor. Many were in attendance, and a wonderful time was had by all, in particular the bride and groom. We wish them the best in their continued happiness. Congratulations, you two!

In other news, this week marks the holiday known in Azeroth as Pilgrim’s Bounty. Pilgrim’s Bounty is a time when we all should sit back and look at the world around us; take in all the good fortune around us and share it will everyone around us. Be sure to visit the capitol cities of the Horde (as well as the Alliance, should you wish to) and partake of the festivities. I’m sure there will be plenty of food and joy for all to share and enjoy. A celebration in honor of this he held this Saturday outside of Orgrimmar, for all to attend and enjoy, and reminisce.

Into the Trials

Only days ago, an invitation reached the hands of Nyx’s esteemed Oracles. It read,

Dear followers of Lady Nyx,
I am Magister Edien Sunhollow, representative of the Sunreavers in the Argent Crusade. As of late, word has been getting out about your efforts within the dark reaches of Ulduar. The Argent Tournament would like to congratulate you on your ongoing efforts to stop the ancient evil within in the unforgiving titan realm. With that said, and knowing the strength of Nyx’s members, we would like to offer you and the finest of Nyx an invite to compete in the Argent Tournament.
If you choose to accept, your fight is scheduled to begin on this Friday, at Midnight. You will be given a half-hour to prepare.
All of us in the Argent Tournament and those of the Sunreavers hope you will accept this offer and take up the challenge laid before you.
Sincerely,
Magister Edien Sunhollow.

It did not take long for the leaders of Nyx to come to a conclusion. They gladly accepted the offer to represent the Horde in the prestigious event.
Those who took up the challenge:
Aitana-Princess of heals
Bularu-Master of tamed beast
Durall-Death from the pits of hell
Hristoforos-Master of Shadow
Op-Death unwilling to die again
Raphusm-Warrior sent By the Gods
Rekeme-Protector of the spirit totems
Soladanus-God of Light
Tasera-Huntress cursed wit da VooDoo
Uhra-Leader of the Shaman Gods

As the night went underway, much blood was shed. Yet, the followers of the Dark Lady did not give up for a single moment.

The Battle of the Beasts was first. The creatures before them fought with an unforgiving ferocity. They fought Gormok the Impaler. They also confronted not one but TWO jormungars, and lastly, a giant yeti known as Icehowl. All three fell to the combatants might.

The second fight was then laid before them. A massive eredar demon known as Lord Jaraxxus went forth to fight them. Eventually those of Nyx were able to destroy him with swift blows.

Tonight the raiders of Nyx will continue the fight and hopefully overcome any challenge that the tournament presents them with.

-Tasera of the Shatterspear Tribe.

A Great Race

null

This past Sunday, some of Nyx’s finest took part in The Great Kalimdor Rally. The race started within the depths of Felwood and took our brave adventurers across the deepest reaches of the western continent. Those in participation where, Foxx, Lokistrasza, Nattura, Cobriana, Tsaphaan, Aitana, Zaydn, Reaperhorn, Miyaoin, and OP.

All the participants tested their mounts stamina and their own wits as they had their eyes set on the one goal, Tanaris! It came to a narrow finish but the Paladin, Foxx, of Nyx managed to finish first.

Well done Foxx and those who participated, you continue to do our lady proud!

Signed,
Tasera of Shatterspear Village.

Wednesday Nights in the Vault!!

Nyxians Invade Vault
Nyxians Invade Vault

A horde of Nyxian fighters, and friends, ventured in to the depths of the Vault of Archavon on Wednesday night; first in a 25 man event, and then followed by a 10 man event.  Both raids were lead by Stormcry, with Theotaz following as second, and Tasera as technical advisor.

Emalon the Stormwatcher

Emalon the Stormwatcher

It was decided at the onset to give challenge to the “new Boss” in the eastern wing – Emalon, the Storm Watcher.  The Nyxian aggressors were prepared for carnage, and carnage did in fact ensue.  Many died, while trying to learn how to best this creature, and his 4 Tempest Minions – for all wanted a crack at the pieces of Tier 8 loot and PvP gear that Emalon is said to part with upon his death.  Stormcry laughingly joked that his armor repairs were nothing, in the face of the knowledge we gained while trying to drop this  beast and his forever reappearing entourage.

Death in the Vault

Death in the Vault

All in all, it was determined that our DPS was not high enough to kill the creature.  However, we have learned much, and now know how to go about it.  And when the time comes that our fire power is higher, we fully expect to litter the ground of the Vault with Emalon’s smoldering corpse.

Flame Leviathan Pursues Silmeria !!

Flame Leviathan yells:

Total systems failure !

Defense protocols breached !

Leviathan unit shutting down !

On Tuesday, 21 April 2009, Nyians bravely ventured in to Ulduar together, for the first time.   After only three attempts, the first boss was downed – Flame Levianthan.

Under the leadership of Umbral Champion Silmeria, the Nyxians that entered Ulduar at  her command included Aitana, Asarelah, Hristoforos, Jeoy, Lanite, Lokimar, Stormcry, Tasera and Volkras.

The entire Raid party was well pleased with the results of this initial foray, and all are looking forward to more action in Ulduar next Tuesday night.  Y’all come sign up, ya hear ??

Old Charter

Welcome to Nyx!

Nyx is a casual social guild with a strong RP and PvE focus, that also does PvP. We will endeavour to provide a guild that caters to everyone’s play style and time zones. We support and encourage diversity in our guild, while maintaining a friendly atmosphere. We prefer our members to have a mature attitude and to be considerate and thoughtful.

We are selective about who comes into Nyx and hope to create a guild where everyone feels welcome and respected.

To ensure that everyone feels welcome we have taken into account peoples different play styles and will make sure that these are catered to via the establishment of Wards.

Leadership Style
Nyx has two Oracles that are the joint Guild Leaders. We felt that a cooperative and collaborative style of Leadership would benefit the guild most, with the Oracles being able to share many of the tasks and present different view points. Always working for the benefit of the guild as a whole and not one particular group of players, Nightwarders are the guilds Officers. They all have specific jobs within the guild and are affiliated with a Ward and are expected to perform tasks for that Ward. They provide input and direction for the guild and act as a voice for the players in discussions with the Oracles. They are there on a daily basis to provide support and guidance within the guild.

Oracles and Nightwarders do not expect to be treated any differently; they are a part of the guild the same as any other member. We value the input of all of the guild members and will listen to suggestions from guild members.

Duskwatchers serve as advisors to the officers. Typically these are former Oracles or Nightwarders, or veteran guild members in high standing. They participate in officer discussions, but they do not vote on officer decisions.

Guild Structure
There are four Wards within Nyx that have Nightwarders and Umbral Champions who strive to meet the needs of the players affliated with those Wards

* Growth and Nourishment – This Ward is charged with assisting our lower level characters and new guild members, assisting with PVE and developing friendships within the guild. If you chose this ward you are choosing a path of service.
* War – The home of those that like to PVP both in the world and in Battlegrounds.
* Roleplay – The Roleplay Ward is set up to coordinate social events and to encourage and provide opportunities for Roleplaying and back stories.
* Trials – This is the ward that deals with high end raids and instances.

Players will need to affiliate themselves with a Ward if they wish to receive the rank of Umbral Champion and the privileges that go along with it. See the ranks page for the various ranks within Nyx and how to attain them.

Values
We like to encourage our guild members to group for questing and PVP to develop friendships and assist other guild members through a spirit of generosity and not any feeling of obligation. We value mutual respect and acceptance. However we also like to encourage players to be self sufficient and not be constantly asking for help, run throughs of instances or money.

Keep guild chat appropriate, knowing that we have very young members in Nyx.

Racist, homophobic, sexist, or generally bigoted comments will not be tolerated, in or out of guild chat. What you say to non-guild members reflects upon Nyx as a whole, so maintain the same level of respect with everyone.

Behave honorably in groups. Don’t need anything you won’t use, and ask your group for permission before needing. Respect their decision if they ask you not to need an item.

While no one is required to roleplay, you must be supportive of those who enjoy it.

We hope that guild members will feel comfortable with their guild leadership and able to approach them directly. Most of all we expect people to have fun.

Roleplaying
We have a strong RP focus. Roleplayers’ creativity and sense of fun contributes something special to the guild. Roleplaying is compulsory in /s and /y, particularly in townships and cities. Nyx Guild chat however is informal, but members are welcome to roleplay there as well if they so desire.

We recognize that not everybody has the same experience in roleplay. We also recognize that there are different levels of interest in roleplay. We welcome all.

When roleplay is happening, mutual respect and acceptance are again the guiding principles. Members that are not interested in participating are expected to respect and accept those that are. Likewise members that are roleplaying are expected to respect and accept those that choose not to participate. Roleplayers with different styles and abilities are expected to respect and accept each other’s differences.

There are specific events for Roleplayers who would like to take part in these and there are promotional paths available for Roleplayers based on their skill in this area. There is a designated area within the forums for Roleplayers to write in character, any posts in this area that are not of a Roleplay nature will be removed.

Events
We will try to host regular events often during the course of a month trying to accommodate all level ranges and time zones. Sometimes it might be a purely social outing like a flightpath run to assist lower level characters in attaining a flight path. Or it may be a happy hour, dungeon or dueling day. Attendance is never mandatory but it is a wonderful way to build friendships and camaraderie within the guild.

The Future
Nyx aims to be a place where people feel welcome and valued. We would like to be large enough to run events for all levels. We will be organized and timely with decision making and direction. We hope to be the guild that people know is one of the best guilds to be in because the leadership cares about and provides for its guild members, and the guild members themselves are friendly and welcoming.
